Auckland Aces won the toss and decided to bat first. Things didn't go according to the plan for them as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. They could only manage 121 runs in their 20 overs. Skipper Bracewell led the charge for Wellington as they managed to cruise through the target in a dominating fashion. He remained not out with 54 runs. Wellington won the match by 8 wickets.

Auckland won the toss here against Wellington and decided to bowl first. Worker and O'Donell opened the innings for the side. The team did not have a good start as Wellington picked up wickets at regular intervals and sent the opening pair back to the pavilion within the powerplay leaving the Auckland side 28-3 at the end of the powerplay. Phillips played a key innings for his side scoring 39 in 31 deliveries, helping his side reach a respectable total. He had a short partnership with Robert Odonnel and Ben Horne helping his side cross the hundred run mark on the scorecard. Bennett sent Phillips back to the pavilion in the 17th over with Auckland at 102. after Glenn's departure, the Wellington side made a quick work of the remaining batting order restraining Auckland at 121 in 20 overs to end the first innings.

Wellington started the chase with positive intent. They did lose Conway early on but post that Bracewell and Allen did steady the ship. They had a good short partnership in the middle. Allen was dismissed by Somerville. Things never really got difficult for Wellington as skipper Bracewell kept thrashing the Auckland bowlers to all parts of the grounds. He played a nicely paced innings and took his team to victory. Blundell supported him from the other end with 41 runs off 25 balls. Bracewell finished not out at 54 runs. Wellington managed to chase down the total in 14.1 overs with 8 wickets in hand.
