And in reply to the second innings, it was looking like a very easy score to chase for Auckland but Otago had some different plans 3 wickets fell in 2nd over of Kitchen making things difficult for Auckland.
That was not all Duffy and Rippon joined the party and took Auckland from 9/3 to 26/6 under seven overs and from there on it looked like the game will end soon and it's a wrap-up but no said Sean Solia, who was the man of the show for Auckland today not with the ball in hand but with his batting skills.
Sean Solia stood there firm and partnership with first the skipper and then with Somerville who played his role to perfection scoring 25 crucial runs and helping Solia take charge and bringing their team back on track.
The drama wasn't over till yet as after Somerville departed, wickets tend to tumble at one end but Sean still continued his game his stood there till the end and took his team home with some help from the tailenders too.
So right there, here is a brief of what all had happened today in this match between Otago and Auckland.
Otago won the toss & came to bat and coming to open from their side was two senior players Hamish Rutherford and Neil Broom, started really well scoring 62 runs off the powerplay losing just one wicket of Brook who played well for his 32 off just 17 balls except for these two batters no batter played well and thus Otago couldn't capture from their good start and as wickets fell on a regular interval, just manages to reach 130 till they all out.
Taking about Auckland bowlers, they bowled a tight line and seamers got some swing in the starting and to continue on from there spinner took hold and bowled very well and bowled out Otago to just 130 even after there such good opening stand. Two wickets each for Lister, Ashok, Phillips, Somerville and Ferguson.
Overall a bowling show from Auckland.
What a match we all have seen today, at one stage it looked like it would just finish in 10 overs when Auckland were 26/6 but no, SEAN SOLIA says that he has different plans, he stood there and stood till the end and took his team home and showed his temperament and showed what a fine all-rounder he is.
Just a crazy game!
Sean Solia TAKE A BOW! 26-6 to chase 130, which is just incredible.
Ben Lister did it, hits the winning shot under pressure.
Unbelievable from Auckland bowlers actually!! Lister comes to the party and finishes the game in style as they romp home against Volts with one wicket in hand and two balls to spare. Solia remains unbeaten on 67 and man on show today for sure.
