Milestone
That's all we have from this brilliant game of cricket. It ebbed and flowed, with Sydney Thunder finally prevailing in the end. They have surely spoiled the Brisbane Heat Women's party, who were on a hunt for the all-important spot at the top of the table. All is not lost yet, they face Renegades on Sunday which will have important repercussions to the league standings. Remember, team finishing on second has to play one less match than teams finishing on 3 and 4 to reach the final - such is the format of the knockout stages in this season of WBBL. Lots of exciting action to come on the last weekend of the league stages of WBBL. Do join us for that and for all the other cricketing action. On that note, it's me Tushar Garg, along with my co-comms for the game Ajay Ahire and Karthik Raj, signing off
Sammy-Jo Johnson has been declared the Player of the Match for her all-round performance of 52(36) and 1-32.

Earlier, Sammy-Jo Johnson reached her 50 off just 34 balls and in the company of Phoebe Litchfield, who was scoring runs with a sense of elegance about her - the Sydney Thunder were motoring along until a moment of brilliance in the field. A stunning pick-up and direct-hit from the deep by Courtney Sippel sent Johnson back to trigger a mini collapse. Some useful contributions lower down the order helped them reach an above-par total

Brisbane Heat fluff their chance to grab the advantage in the three-way race with Renegades and Scorchers for the coveted top spot - which this year ensures a direct route to the final.

Coming back to the chase, Grace Harris and Georgia Redmayne do what they do best - scoring big runs at the top of the order. The Brisbane Heat openers have been dominant right through the WBBL 07. Harris has five 50+ scores this season, including 1 century. Redmayne has crossed 50-run mark on four occasions. Harris today scored a 50 and out, with her dismissal causing a flurry of wickets. Redmayne carried on along with Mikayla Hinkley to keep the Heat chase very much alive. Heat would have fancied themselves needing 20 off the last 2 overs with five wickets in hand. Although, it wasn't to be. Hannah Darlington pegged them back with a magical 19th over giving away just 4 runs and taking 2 wickets. Needing 15 runs off the last over, Heat fell short by 9 runs.
