So, that's a premature wrap to Match 42 of WBBL 07 2021. This is me Ayan Chatterjee signing off on behalf of my esteemed co-commentator Akshay Bhide. Plenty of cricket happening around the globe on the One Cricket and Cricket Exchange App. Switch tabs to follow Pakistan vs West Indies Women 2nd ODI live from Karachi in progress. Do join us later on tonight for the second semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup between Pakistan and Australia live from Dubai. Should be a cracker of a match that.
The WBBL action resumes over the weekend in Mackay. Do join us for that and all cricket around the globe as well. But for now, from me and the entire team, it's goodbye and stays safe, happy, cool, and positive. We will catch up with you soon.
So, rain has had the final say at Karen Roltan Oval in Adelaide as both the matches have been abandoned due to rain. While the first match of the day saw 22.3 overs being bowled between Thunder and Scorchers, this Melbourne Derby wasn't lucky at all. The forecast was for loads of rain and it proved as well. So, unfortunately, the Melbourne Derby ends with a no result and a point apiece for both the teams. The points table will remain unchanged and Renegades stays at the top while Stars stay in a mid-table position. The ploy of playing this game on Thursday from the originally slated day of Saturday does not work for the BBL broadcasters, but that's for another day.
Update 12:35 AM IST:- Match abandoned due to rain without a ball being bowled, no toss. Not the news that you would have hoped for. A point each for both teams in this Melbourne Derby.
Update | 11:50 AM IST: No news yet as rain continues to fall in Adelaide. Let's hope we get some game time today. Fingers crossed.
Update | 11:06 AM IST: The toss won't take place at the scheduled time and the waiting game continues... It's still raining at Karen Roton Oval in Adelaide. So, the start and toss are delayed due to it. The waiting game will continue now.
Update 10:46 AM IST: The first game today at this venue was washed out after 2.3 overs in the second innings. Let's hope that the sky clears and we get a full game between Melbourne Renegades Women and Melbourne Stars Women. We will keep you updated.
Akshay: It's Melbourne Debry time. Melbourne Renegades Women are on a roll in the competition so far, having won seven games so far. They have 15 points to their name. They are coming off a win in their last game against the Melbourne Stars. The bowlers set things up nicely for them as they knocked over Stars on 103 before chasing it down in the 15th over. Everyone has fired in unison for them in the competition so far and they will be riding with confidence after their win over the Stars. They will be eager to make it two in two against the Stars today. A win today will see them go to the top of the table.

Melbourne Stars Women, on the other hand, are placed in the sixth position in the points table. They have won four and lost six games so far and have nine points to their name. They suffered a heavy loss against the Perth Scorchers in their last game. It was a poor performance from the batters as they could only manage to score 97 in their 20 overs. The bowlers failed to pick a single wicket as the Scorchers chased down the total in the 11th over, with 10 wickets in hand. The Stars are struggling a bit in the competition and they will face the upbeat Renegades today. They will be looking to seek revenge for their loss. Let's see how things unfold for both sides.

Hello and welcome to OneCricket and Cricket Exchange’s coverage of the 42nd match of the Women’s Big Bash League 2021 between Melbourne Renegades Women and Melbourne Stars Women at Karen Rolton Oval in Adelaide. I’m Akshay Bhide and will be joined by Ayaan Chatterjee as we take you through the ball-by-ball updates of this exciting contest.

The fiercest rivalry once again kicks off as two teams from the same city go toe-to-toe against each other. It is the Melbourne Renegades pipped against the Melbourne Stars. The high-flying Renegades are sitting at the top of the pile and look unstoppable at the moment. Can anyone really take them down? I highly doubt that.

They are a formidable team and hardly have any weaknesses. The Stars are reeling at the sixth position in the points table and have to jot down victories under their belt to stay alive in the competition. Can the Stars stop this juggernaut known as the Melbourne Renegades?

To know the answer, join us at 11 AM IST for the live coverage of this mouth-watering contest.
