Marizanne Kapp is the Player of the match for her brilliant bowling performance.

It’s been a match to forget for the Hobart Hurricanes. In spite of winning the toss and opting to bat first, the Scorchers ran through the Hurricanes lineup in a lethal manner. The Hurricanes were teetering at 19-6, courtesy of some quality bowling display by Marianne Kapp and the skipper Sophie Devine at the beginning. Kapp scalped four wickets for just 10 runs in her spell of four overs, whereas, Devine bagged two for 15 from three overs. Staring at an unwanted record of the lowest ever total in WBBL’s history, Ruth Johnston and Sasha Moloney rescued the Hurricanes from humiliation. The two accumulated a 54-run stand for the seventh wicket before Johnston’s knock of 38 came to an end by Lilly Mills. Sasha Moloney followed her way back to the dugout in the very next ball to the same bowler. Lilly Mills ended up taking three wickets in totality, as the Hobart Hurricanes were bundled out for a meager 96.

The run chase, as expected, was fairly comfortable for the Perth Scorchers. Sophie Devine and Beth Mooney got to a quickfire 22 run stand within two overs.  Tayla Vlaminck did show some character to dismiss both openers in quick succession. Chamari Atapattu played a decent knock of 18 before getting dismissed to Vlaminck. Chole Piparo anchored the rest of the innings with her 29*. Marizanne Kapp transpired her from with the ball to the bat and scored a breezy 18* of 15 to get her team over the line. So, it’s the Perth Scorchers that have comprehensively chased down 97 with five wickets in hand and 27 balls to spare.

So that's that, and we will be joining you soon for another game in the Women's Big Bash League until then this is me Ali signing it off with my co-commentators Ajay Ahire and Rishabh Gandhi. The Player of the Match will be stated in a bit! Till then, do take really good care.
