Will be interesting to see how New Zealand come out and perform tomorrow. With a huge total to chase on Day 5, they have a task in their hand. Going back to their hotel, India will surely be the happier team. Till then, it's a goodbye from me - Arjun Bhalla - and my colleagues, Anurag Dasgupta (DG) and Arijit Kundu.
Arjun: Things didn't pan out as per plan for the home team as the day started hauntingly for them. The Kiwi bowlers, especially Tim Southee and Kyle Jamieson were having the better of India's top-order batsmen, when they undid Cheteshwar Pujara, Mayank Agarwal, skipper Ajinkya Rahane and Ravi Jadeja in no time.

But it was when the centurion from the last innings, Shreyas Iyer took the responsibility on his shoulders. He, initially, got back from Ashwin, to rescue India from 51-5. And then he formed a vital partnership alongside Wriddhiman Saha. Both Iyer and Saha scored fifties respectively. Also, not to forget, Axar Patel also played a healthy hand in the second innings. All these rescuers stood as stone in the middle and frustrated the Kiwi bowlers with their application.

There wasn't much happening on the wicket, and Indian still fancied that to take their lead to 284 runs. With a total on their back, Ashwin and Axar Patel. As the day ended, Latham survived but Young didn't. Ashwin got his man, and New Zealand are already one wicket down.
Shreyas Iyer: "My mindset was to play the session and try to play as many balls as possible. Yeah, I knew about it (his record of scoring a century and a fifty in the same match on debut). When I came back, few of the players did inform me about it. It was really tough to curb my instincts. Rahul sir told me to anchor the innings. I felt that anything around 250 would be a good total here, but fortunately we got more than that.

To be honest, there wasn't much happening on the wicket. We needed to get a competitive total and we have faith in our spinners. They can really put NZ under pressure on the last day."

And that will be stumps on Day 4. India are well and truly on top as they have 279 runs to play with on the last day of the Test.

3.6 A Patel to W Somerville
0 And length deilvery slides it into Somerville on the off-stump as he comes forward and keeps it out and that's stumps!
3.5 A Patel to W Somerville
0 Slides it into Somerville on the middle and off as he presses forward to defend it into the off-side.
3.4 A Patel to W Somerville
0 Good delivery, fraction short on the fourth stump line, Somerville presses forward to defend but gets the outside edge of the bat to defend.
3.3 A Patel to W Somerville
0 Keeps it short on the middle and off as Axar on the backfoot gets behind the line and defends it back to the bowler.
3.2 A Patel to W Somerville
0 Oh dear!!! That kept low and Somerville was lucky to get some bat on it, he ended up toe ending it to the silly point fielder as Axar drops it short.
3.1 A Patel to T Latham
1 Latham skips down the track and takes Ravindra Jadeja, at mid-on, on. Hand in the mouth kinda situation here as Jadeja hits directly at the non striker's end, but Latham came home on time.
Ravichandran Ashwin

After a long, long disucssion with his partner, Young decides to review this lbw decision. But the umpire says you ran out of time and he decides to walk back. Took too much time to refer that one..
2.6 R Ashwin to W Young
W Gets him right in front of the stumps. Off break variation by Ravichandran Ashwin and it was kept super low. Tossed up a good length that turns into Young sharply as he prods forward to defend but misses, raps on the pad and looks a goner there. Young wanted to review, but he was out of time! A second earlier, would have been a review, but he's late, and he would have got it right!
2.5 R Ashwin to W Young
0 He negates this one. Goes on the back foot and clips it down to leg slip fielder who stops it.
2.4 R Ashwin to W Young
2 Skews one off outside off and Young gets underway. He goes on the backfoot looks to defend the good length delivery but takes the outside edge down to third-man for a couple.
2.3 R Ashwin to W Young
0 Floated on the middle and off as Young gets inside the line and defends it into the on-side with soft hands.
2.2 R Ashwin to W Young
0 Another huge appeal that gets turned down. Good length again turns sharply into Young on the off-stump as he prods forward to defend but misses, raps on the pad and goes to Gill at silly point!
