It was a pleasure bringing you this game from the beautiful city of Kolkata. Till next time, it's goodbye, and thanks for tuning in. Stay safe, happy, cool, and healthy.

Ravi Bishnoi (Player of the Match): "Nerves are settled now. I feel well. Feeling great to play for India. At the start, I was nervous and excited to play against the Windies. I gave away too many wides because of nervousness. Will definitely rectify that in the next game. My strength is to hit the hard length and that's my strength. Dew was not there in the first innings and to be honest, I have not bowled with a wet ball. We have practiced with the wet ball, but the match situations are different than practice. I hope, I can do well with the wet ball if given the opportunity. Never really dreamt of getting a Player of the Match award on my debut, I thank God for it and look to improve further in the next game and going forward. Happy with the night. "
Rohit Sharma | India Captain: "It did get a bit tricky, we wanted to be a bit clinical towards the end. It was a great effort by our bowlers to restrict them to something below 160. We were clinical enough but we can learn from that. Overall, I am happy with the win. Bishnoi is a very talented guy which is why we drafted him into the squad straightaway. We believe Ravi Bishnoi has something different about him, he can bowl at any stage of the game, right from the powerplay to anywhere towards the end. Very happy with his first game for India and he's got a bright future and it's just about us now on how we use him. Someone like Shreyas Iyer is sitting out, very hard on him not making it to playing eleven, but we needed someone to bowl in the middle which is why we couldn't get him in. It's always nice with that kind of competition going around and a lot of the guys are missing out as well. I'm happy to have that kind of challenge rather than not having players available and not in form. We were very clear with Shreyas and we told him we want that option going into the World Cup. Guys do understand what the team wants and all these guys are professionals and they do understand that team comes first. Lots of things to take into consideration and sometimes it can be very tough on the guys missing out, but we want to make sure that we give out a clear message with guys performing needs to get that run and we want to put the team first. I have been talking to him for a long time now, when he was playing with Mumbai Indians in the middle order which wasn't his natural position. We saw in Chennai when the pitch was slow he wasn't able to get going, we just want to make sure that we give him that confidence with what he needs to do and look to find that odd boundary in the middle. It's just about rotating strike in the middle and with Ishan it's just about getting some game time and wearingt the blue and playing for India, there's too much pressure. It's our job to make sure that whenever he steps in he's quite comfortable."
Kieron Pollard (Losing Captain): "Between overs 6-15 we only scored 46 in 9 overs and if we had 18-20 more runs during that phase it would have been competitive. After six overs they were in front, but I thought the bowlers and fielders did really well to pull things back. Different times call for different things, they have quality bowlers and we have to play it as we see it. The guys are working hard to get things right and again it's just a matter of setting it up properly.  The ball was wet and the bowlers were bowling high full tosses and I wanted them to have a fair share to execute. It was a very, very good game of cricket. "
Suryakumar Yadav: Looking at the dew, Rishabh and I were having a word inside the square of the wicket the ball was going really fast. So anything on leg stump or outside off, I was just trying to time it nicely. I like batting anywhere, I'm flexible to bat at any position. I badly wanted to finish the game and I'm really happy to finish the game and stay not out. When Venkatesh Iyer came in, there was a difference of just 8 runs, I told him no need for fancy strokes, just play good shots with good intent. He batted really well, very happy with that. Their spinners bowled beautifully. There was no turn but the ball was stopping a bit and there was a bit of bounce. After 10-12 overs there was heavy dew coming in and difficult for them to grip the ball, so good advantage for us.
That's the end of the game and Venkatesh Iyer finishes things off in style as India wins this contest by 6 wickets with 7 balls to spare to take a 1-0 lead in the 3-match series. A comprehensive and professional win in the end.

Rohit Sharma set up this chase with a blistering 40 off 19 balls as India chasing 158 for the win got to 57 runs in 5 overs before suffering a few minor hiccups but they won in the end quite easily in the end. Ishan Kishan struggled in his 42-ball 35 runs. Virat Kohli showed intent in his brief stay of 17 off 13 balls. Rishabh Pant flattered to deceive in his 8 off 8 balls. But it was Surya Kumar Yadav 34 off 18 balls and Venkatesh Iyer with 24 off 13 balls both unbeaten finished things off in style as there was a smile in the Indian dug-out.

For the West Indies bowlers, their spinners were magnificent. Roston Chase was impressive and brought the Windies back in the game. Chase had figures of 2-14 in 4 overs. Akeal Hosein was good in his 34 runs in 4 overs. A wicket to Fabian Allen that of Virat Kohli and a wicket for Sheldon Cottrell as well. The Windies bowlers came back well with the ball but they were 15 runs short on this wicket.

Earlier in the day, India opted to bowl first and restricted the West Indies to 157-7 in their 20 overs. They kept things tight throughout. It was the Nicholas Pooran show as his 61 off 43 balls was the cornerstone of the 157 total Contribution from Kyle Mayers who looked good in his 31 off 24 balls. Akeal Hosein struggled for his 10 off 12 balls and the big man Kieron Pollard was unbeaten on 24 off 19 balls.

The spinners were brilliant with the ball. Ravi Bishnoi on debut had figures of 2-17 in 4 overs my player of the match. A couple of wickets for death overs specialist Harshal Patel who got a bit of tap towards the end. A wicket for Chahal who was expensive as well in his final over. A wicket for the two new ball bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Deepak Chahar. India has some areas to work on but they will be happy with this win for sure.

So, India wins by 6 wickets with 7 balls to spare to take a 1-0 lead in the 3-match series. Stay tuned for the post-match presentation coming your way.
