So this is it from the 1st ODI between India and West Indies. Thank you so much for sticking to our coverage and it's a wrap from Arijit Kundu, fellow commentators, Badal Pareek and Anirud Modi, and Scorer/Analyst Manish Bishnoi.
Yuzi Chahal(Player of the match): "Credits to Washy for keeping the pressure. When I was watching Washy's spell, I was thinking that the ball can be jabbed upwards. Pace was really important in this wicket. I changed the line today, at middle and off. I was sure that the slower or flighted one's would not work today. If there is spin on offer for the quicker one's it would be better. When I came back from the South Africa tour, I looked at the footages and tried to improve on things. Also talked to the skipper and our bowling coach, Parahs Ambre sir on it."
Rohit Sharma(India captain): "To be in patches yeah. I never believe in we can be perfect. We stuck to our plans, and did well. We have ticked off all the boxes. With the bat, we could have finished the game with lesser wickets gone. We could have done more better in the middle order. But i dont want to take anything away from the boys. But again, as I said that we cannot be perfect always. We want to get better as a team everyday. The end goal is we need to achieve what the team wants. If its batting we need to do it, we are open for everything. I don't think we need to change a lot of things. Need to be the same with little here and there. I will tell the players to challenge yourself every time so that whenever the situation arises you are ready. We came here few days early and had a great net session. As a batter, I pretty much did what could be done. Yeah wanted to be there till the end. But again, everything doesn't works in your favor everyday. Obviously, the pitch had the softness earlier. in this game the toss was vital. But in other or most of the games, you need to be at your toes irrespective of the toss. You want to keep the toss away from the game but if its in you favor, you gotta take the advantage hahaha".
Grand Sixes of the match award winner: Jason Holder.
Dream11 game-changer of the match: Washington Sundar.
Kamal ka moment of the match: Alfazri Joseph's footwork to get Rishab Pant out.
Kieron Pollard(West Indies captain): "Off course not, losing to 22 overs to spare that's a heavy defeat. losing 5 wickets in 71-5 wasn't something good for us. Obviously, we gotta deep deeper, into our techniques, even me. We are getting run out of days and it has been difficult in the last couple of days. We did get four wickets there. And will look for more better. The toss is really crucial. It's a crucial decision of a match as the dew comes in later on. In two days' time, we have to find a way. Again, when you look at different things, things aren't the same. Jason can bat at any order. He has a double hundred at tests. We have players who played test cricket and are batting up the order. Jason is batting at 7 and is doing good, he can bat anywhere. Positives, again Jason there getting a half century, Alzari and Fabien were good too.Thanks."
Time for presentation ceremony.
Suryakumar Yadav: "I think things were really clear. I didn't tell Hooda anything, he knew the situation very well. His confidence was spot on. We discussed about taking it 5 runs at a time and achieving small goals. Loving how things are going, tried to enjoy it and do the things I do in the nets. Polly asked why didn't I flick it through mid wicket, that's what I do in IPL but I said things are different right now. The track was a little slow in the afternoon and dew made it better for the batters."
Arijit: Earlier in the game, India had won the toss and opted to field first. Windies lost a couple of wickets after a modest start from the openers. Mohammed Siraj was good enough to remove Shai Hope within the first five overs of the powerplay. Soon Sundar and Chahal came in and pushed the Windies on the backfoot as the numbers saw 71-5. Chahal was on a hat-trick after he removed Nicholas Pooran and Kieron Pollard on back to back deliveries but couldn't get the third one on a trot. The visitors quickly lost two more wickets and were put short to 79-7 after 22.5 overs.

Following this, Fabien Allen and Jason Holder steadied the ship slightly with a 78 runs partnership together. Allen was the one to go as Washington Sundar extracted a caught and bowled opportunity put of it. Soon a few more wickets and the Windies ended the innings on 176.

India started off in some fashion against the West Indian side as skipper Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan put up 70 runs plus partnership for the first wicket, with Rohit scoring fifty in India's 1000th ODI.

The Windies side however fired back with consecutive wickets as the team manages to dismiss Rohit as well as Virat Kohli in the same over. Rishab Pant was unlucky today with the manner in which he was dismissed. Ishan Kishan tried to convert his early start but was next to depart to put India in a precarious position. Suryakumar Yadav and the debutant Deepak Hooda however put the innings back on track as the duo put up an unbeaten partnership for the fifth wicket to see India cross the finish line. India ended up winning with 6 wickets.
