The pitch had a tinge of lively grass, maybe to hold the surface and there are a few cracks on this pitch. But it should play well under lights with dew being a big possibility. The average 1st innings score here at Lahore since 2020 has been 150. We could get more than that under lights. In the day game, we saw Sindh struggle to get to 128 and Central Punjab under Hassan Ali in the absence of Babar Azam got to the target very easily in 15.4 overs. So, if you are put into bat, then I think you have to get 150 bare minimum. 160-170 should be the ideal score. Win the toss and field should be the way to go especially under lights as the ball tends to slide on as we go deep into the night. Which way will the flip of the coin go? Northern, on the other hand, are decently placed with 8 points from 6 games. They are in 4th place due to the inferior Net Run Rate to the teams above them. They have played good cricket so far with multiple people standing up. Led by Shadab Khan, they have had Imad Wasim firing for them and Haider Ali has been the man in form in this tournament. They will hope to win tonight and close in on finishing in the semi-final slot. As we speak, the top 4 look relatively secure and it will take a special effort from the bottom two teams Balochistan and Southern Punjab to break into the top4. Stranger things have happened before, but the current top4 should remain static at the end of the league stage.
Balochistan under Imam-ul-Haq have won just 2 of their 6 games and both those wins have come against the laggards Southern Punjab who are winless after 6 games. Against the rest of the teams, they have lost and in some encounters, they have lost badly without showing any fight. Time is running out for them as there is a significant gap between the 4th placed team and Balochistan. It is a must-win game for Balochistan. Can they upset the apple cards tonight? It's not going to be easy against Northern.
