That's it from the third encounter of the 2022 ICC Women's World Cup between Australia and England. This was Saurabh Saket along with Badal Pareek and Ayan Chatterjee. Do join us for other coverages from across the globe. Will see you soon until then stay safe.
Meg Lanning Australia Winning Captain: "It's nice to get a win first-up. We expected a contest and we got it from England. It was nice to get to 310 and we have areas to work on with the ball to finish things off. Jess wanted to bowl the final over and she did really well to bowl that over. It was a tough game, the batting conditions got better. We have to bowl and field better but it was important to get a win to start the World Cup. I thought Alana King bowled well, and of course, Shane had an immense value and impact on her. It's a big loss losing Shane like that and world cricket along with Australian cricket has felt the wrath of two losses in 24 hours. We are happy to start with the win and hope to work and improve on areas to keep getting better. ""
Heather Knight | Losing Captain: "Yeah there is, I see the way we played in the Ashes wasn't a true representation of us, today the way the girls played was definitely special. Great innings from Sciver, we really wanted to win but it's not like it's our last fixture, it's not the end and we still have a lot of games left. Throughout the completion we batted really well and it was nice to see. Tammy was brilliant up top, Nat once again was great probably one of our best players and that was a great knock from her side. I had a lot of options in the bowling unit and when we have seven batters in the line-up with people who can ball as well it makes decisions easy. It was a great match last night, it was pretty ballsy of them to give Dottin the ball in the last over and it worked out for them, looking ahead to our encounter."
Rachel Haynes Player of the Match: "I don't think I was moving that great towards the end. England was great to challenge us, and it's an important lesson on how to close out the game. England bowled well initially excellent, but we hung in there and got a good finish. I love batting with Meg, and the conditions got better as I went along with the innings. My main aim is to do well for the team. Hopefully, I can continue this rich vein of form and you see more of me in the presentation area. "
Two of the most successful sides in Women's cricket were up against each other in their start to the campaign in Day 2 of the World Cup. England won the toss and elected to bowl first but their decision seemed to backfire as Australia took their bowlers to the cleaners in the contest posting a massive total of 310 runs on the board.

After losing Alyssa Healy in the power play, Australia were all over the fixture as Rachel Haynes and skipper Meg Lanning put up a 200 run plus partnership for the 2nd wicket to help their side get a brilliant start.

The skipper missed out on a well deserved century as she departed on 86, Haynes however scored 130 runs to her name in 131 deliveries and was around till the last five overs.

Beth Mooney and Elleyse Perry however closed the innings with a blitz as the duo smacked the bowlers all over the park to help their side put up a total of 310 runs on the board at the end of 50 overs.

England had a rough start to the contest as they lost their opener Lauren Winfield in the very first over on duck, Tammy Beaumont and Heather Knight out up a 92 runs partnership to keep their side in the game. Australia found the breakthrough as McGrath got Knight packing but Sciver built up another partnership with Beaumont to deepen the worries for Australia.

Australia managed to get some consecutive wickets after sending Beaumont packing to the pavilion but in came Sophia Dunkley and put up a 5 run partnership for 6th wicket to keep England in the game.

England tried to fight back with Sciver and Brunt scoring some big boundaries in the death overs but things got too much for the duo as they needed 16 runs off the last over.

Johnson picked up Brunt with an absolute screamer early in the over leaving England out of options to win the game, Sciver tried to help her side get past the total but it was in vain as the batter remained unbeaten at 109 as her side lost by 12 runs.

49.2 J Jonassen to K Brunt
W Jonassen pulls a one-handed stunner of her own bowling to dismiss Brunt here. This catch might have won Australia the game. It was full in length on the stumps, the batter hits it straight towards the bowler with all her power. The reaction by the bowler to pull this off is something that will be talked about for the next few days.
49.1 J Jonassen to N Sciver
1lb Jonassen bowls it a touch short on the stumps, Sciver goes for the pull fails to get bat on it. They sneak in a leg bye here.
Ayan: 16 needed off 6 balls. 15 for the Super Over. Who is going to bowl the final over? It's looking like it's going to be Jess Jonassen. Big gamble this from Lanning and Australia.
