Well that is it from the coverage here as Delhi Capitals beat Mumbai Indians by 4 wickets and 5 balls to spare. They bag two points and level their tally with the Chennai Super Kings. This is Arijit Kundu, alongside Md. Farzan and Karthik Raj, bringing you the live onecricket coverage. Time to switch to the other coverage where the table-toppers collide against the hungry Rajasthan Royals at Abu Dhabi.
Rishabh Pant:(Delhi Capitals captain): "In Sharjah, the wicket always plays differently. Yes, it's a hard-fought victory. We were planning to bowl mostly the fast bowlers in the powerplay. Easier for the spinner in these tracks. I held back one over of Ashwin to keep him away from Pollard and Hardik. Avesh is the find of the season for us, but at Delhi Capitals, we learn from our mistakes and pick up. We have to solidify our batting. Stoinis should be fine in a few days, and that will be good for us. You can't always go for it, but someone has to be aggressive in the powerplay."
Axar Patel: (Player of the Match): "I am able to read the batter more easily and can plan better. If I can think about what the batter is doing and deny them the ideal ball, I can be more successful. (On de Kock's wicket) I thought he would go for the slog sweep or through cover. That's why I hung it out there for him to hit. I think there's no need to experiment when some of the simple things are working better."
Player of the match: Axar Patel.
Shreyas Iyer: "I felt really amazing to bat through and take my team through. It was a low scoring game. I backed myself and my instincts. I knew I would win the game for the team. (On Ashwin's role) He came in and was really positive. He wanted to take singles, and that went to the last two overs. He decided he would take the bowlers on during the last two overs. The transition in the last two years has happened. Since 2019, we have shifted that towards our team. We try to implement that within the dressing room. We try to be humble, and we try to ensure whoever's day it is, he makes sure the team wins the game. (On the first championship and how they can get there) Once we are in these close games, we have to finish them. Every two points matter. If we finish in the top two, we have that opportunity to play that one game and make the final."
Rohit Sharma (Mumbai Indians captain): "We always knew it was going to be a difficult venue. We watched a lot of games and we do understand that it isn't the easiest of the grounds to play and get those runs you want. We came prepared, we knew exactly what to expect from the conditions, we spoke of those as to how we need to go about when we bat. We didn't bat well, we didn't create those partnerships, we always knew that it wasn't a 170-180 wicket, we knew 140 is a par score here. We just couldn't get the partnerships going. If your batters are not going to put runs on the board, it's going to be difficult to win games consistently. We have struggled with our batting this season, I personally accept that. But I don't want to take anything away from the guys, we are preparing very well. We are just not able to execute in the middle, a little disappointing. We just look to play the game we are known to, something's missing in our game. We are not playing to our potential that we are known for, that is something that is missing in the UAE leg. Hopefully in the next two games we can come out and play the way we are known for."
There came a point where 12 runs were required from 11 deliveries. All hopes were on Trent Boult and he managed to give away 7 runs from his over. With four runs needed from the last six deliveries, it was upto Krunal Pandya or a Kieron pollard to deliver for the cause. The skipper backed Krunal to do it and his first ball of the over went straight over the deep square leg ropes for a six of the bat of Ashwin. Thereby, Delhi Capitals winning the match with 5 balls to spare.

Shreyas Iyer was the highest runscorer for the capitals with 33 notout from 33 deliveries. Ashwin was notout on 20 at the end of the game. All the bowlers of Mumbai Indians managed to pick one wicket each except for Kieron Pollard.
Delhi Capitals lost a couple of wickets during the initial phase of the chase. Dhawan was run out in the second over of the innings by Pollard and Prithwi Shaw was sent back to the pavilion right in the next over. just when Steve Smith and Rishab Pant looked to steady the shape by hitting a few boundaries and rotating the strike, Nathan Coulter Nile bagged the wicket of his countryman, Steve Smith.

Rishab Pant continued to play the aggressor's role and Shreyas Iyer tried to play the anchorer's innings. Iyer went onto bat till the end but whereas Delhi Capitals lost wickets of the southpaw in the form of Rishab Pant, Axar Patel, and Shimron Hetmyer on regular occasions.
Earlier in the game, Delhi Capitals had won the toss and elected to field first. The DC bowlers struck early after they got rid of Mumbai Indians skipper, Rohit Sharma with a shorter delivery outside the offstump.

De Kock and Surya Kumar Yadav were ticking things off until the powerplay. They managed to get only 35 runs in the powerplay. Soon De Kock was sent back to the hut by Axar Patel. Saurabh Tiwary, Pollard too tried to steady things around the corner but no one reached the 20 runs mark.

Mumbai Indians were sent on the backfoot after Axar Patel broke their middle order. They were 87-5 after 14.1 overs. The Pandya brothers had to do something but could only manage to glue a mere 22 runs partnership. Mumbai Indians lost a few more wickets and ended their score at 129-8 after 20 overs. Suryakumar Yadav was the highest runscorer with 33 from 26 deliveries. Avesh Khan and Axar Patel bagged three-fers each.
What a way to finish things off here at Sharjah. Ashwin slog sweeping Krunal for an over boundary and that is it concludes this encounter between two of the finalists of IPL 2020.

Another game at the Sharjah, and another low-scoring affair.
Mumbai's hunt for the playoffs spot continues.
19.1 K Pandya to R Ashwin
6 WHAT A WAY TO FINISH THE MATCH!!! Ashwin proving that he can bat and do anything to get his side past the victory line. Tossed up angling towards the stumps. He gets down and one knee and smashes it over the deep mid wicket region for a six. Hit on the shorter side off the boundary but a six is indeed a six.

18.6 T Boult to R Ashwin
1 Back of a length delivery way down the leg side. Ashwin moves wide away from the leg stump and punches it towards mid off for a single. Great fielding as Hardik keeps it to a single.
18.5 T Boult to S Iyer
1 Length delivery flicked away by Iyer towards the leg side for a single.
18.4 T Boult to S Iyer
2 Dot ball! An overthrow allows the batsmen to get a couple. MI cannot leak runs at this crucial stage. Rohit throws this one and misses the stumps, which costs his team. A direct hit and Shreyas Iyer would have walked back to the pavilion.
18.3 T Boult to R Ashwin
1 Fuller delivery flicked towards midwicket region for a single.
18.2 T Boult to R Ashwin
2 Good running between the wickets! They get a couple of runs added to their tally. Not giving away any chances of scoring runs for the team. Slower delivery and Ashwin lofts it. The ball lands safely and the batters get back for a double.
Arijit: All hopes on Trent boult now!! Hopes of scalping the big fish and leaking as less runs as possible.
