So that's goodbye from me, Anurag, and my partner Arjun and Dasgupta from the comm box. Join us for the second match of the doubleheader between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians. Good night and take care!!
Sunil Narine "Watching a few games here, we knew there's a bit of spin here. Didn't want to get too full. I've been through a lot. Need to give credit to the bowling coach, that's a plus and that's been key for me to come back. Batting in the middle-order is challenging. It’s pleasing to see hard work paying off after a long time. I think we are playing some good cricket. A few niggles, but that said we are playing good cricket"
Sunil Narine bags the Player of the Match award.
Eoin Morgan | Winning captain "Delighted with the win. Tough playing two games in three days. But happy to get a couple of points. Winning toss and fielding is not an easy thing to do. Guys were more calculated today, and it came off. When the outfield is slow, if you are cagey it can come back to hurt you. Both sides played the game hard. On a hot day, things can boil over. Thankfully it didn't. We all played in the right spirit. And its a tough contest against Delhi Capitals. Full credit has to go to our coach Brendon McCullum. It's his ethos, his mindset, and the boys have bought into that"
Rishabh Pant | Losing captain "I think we were 10 -15 short, not much. We knew the wicket would slow down in the second innings. But every team is trying to win the match. We want to give 100% and if it doesn't go our way we will learn and move on. Batting was pretty difficult for new batters. We wanted to capitalise in the end with the bat, but we lost wickets and ended up 10 short. Bowling performance - really happy. There isn't a massive change that we need to do"

Earlier in the day, Morgan won the toss and put the Capitals to bat first. His decision to bowl first on a slow and low surface paid off as DC batters struggled to time the ball right from the start. Shikhar Dhawan looked good in the middle, but once he departed, things went downhill for Delhi and the spin duo of Chakravarthy and Narine tighten the screws in the middle phase and barring Smith and Pant, no one looked comfortable against spin. Pant tried his level best, but the slowness of the track took a toll on him as well. In the end, some smart bowling from the KKR bowlers restricted DC to a minuscule total of 127.

The Knight Riders got off to a decent start in the powerplay but the inclusion of the part-timer, Lalit Yadav in the powerplay paid dividends for Rishabh Pant as he scalped the danger man, Venkatesh Iyer cheaply. The in-form Tripathi started his innings with a massive six but couldn’t get going. Quite Surprisingly, Rabada came into the attack after the halfway mark of this chase and put KKR in a precarious situation with a wicket maiden in his first over itself. Ashwin proved his worth once again with a wicket in his final over. He scalped KKR’s skipper for a duck, shifting the momentum towards the Capitals.

Nitish Rana took on Lalit Yadav in the 14th over, striking two mammoth sixes to take the game away from the Capitals. Narine smashed Rabada all over the park easing the job for Rana. A couple of wickets at the death gave hopes to Delhi for a comeback but Rana made sure to take the Men in Purple home with 3 wickets and 10 balls to spare. KKR now have won 3 out 4 matches in the UAE-leg completely turning things around and keeping their playoffs hopes alive.

Stay connected for the Post-match presentation..

And with that, we come to the conclusion of the 41st match of the 2021 Indian Premier League. After struggling in the middle overs, KKR bounced back and chased this small total of 127 with 3 wickets in hand. Nitish Rana was quite magnificent in the chase taking on the part-timers and leading them to the victory with 10 deliveries to spare.
18.2 A Nortje to N Rana
4 FOURR!!! And with that, KKR chase down this small total, thanks to the brilliance of Rana. Latches onto the width offered outside off and slashes it past the third man for a boundary
18.1 A Nortje to N Rana
0 Tucks the back of a length delivery straight to mid wicket and takes off for a single. Horrible miscommunication here as Ferguson survives.

W OUTT!!! Wickets continue to tumble for the Knight Riders. Needless shot from Southee here. On a good length angling to Southee who misses out on the slog as the ball rattles the top of off stump. Just 2 required now..
17.5 A Khan to N Rana
1 Pitched up outside off, Rana finds the mid off fielder on the drive and takes a quick single.
17.4 A Khan to T Southee
1 Very full around off, Southee steps down and drills it straight to mid off for a quick one.
17.3 A Khan to T Southee
2 In the air and it lands safely!!  Bangs in short to Southee who gets a top edge onto it and the ball falls just in front of the deep square leg fielder. Nonetheless, they sneak in a single.
17.2 A Khan to T Southee
0 On a hard length in the channel. Southee goes for the drive on the bounce but gets a leading edge straight to mid wicket
17.1 A Khan to T Southee
0 Starts off with a length delivery right on the money, Southee turns it straight to mid wicket.
