Milestone
That's it from the 54th match of the BBL between the Hobart Hurricanes and Melbourne Renegades. Do join us for the upcoming matches from all around the globe. For now, this is me Badal Pareek signing it off along with my Co-commentators Ayan Chatterjee and Arya.
Aaron Finch(Player of the Match): "Some slow going through the middle overs with Darcy and Sandeep bowling well, but we got the momentum after that. Could have been a bit better through the 5-8 over the mark and that was disappointing. He (Shaun Marsh) is playing so well and just keeps getting better and better and he is a fantastic team man. Quick turnaround for us and playing the Thunder tomorrow."
Hurricanes posted a massive first innings total of 182 on the back of the heroics from David. The Renegades had a huge task in their hand and they went about it in some fashion. Finch and Marsh got together and built a partnership of over a hundred runs. The partnership made it look like an easy chase. But, post the departure of Marsh things started to get a lot difficult for the Renegades. They kept losing wickets and in the 19th over they lost two back to back wickets, one of which was Finch. They needed 15 runs off the last over. With two new batters out there it was a huge task and they ultimately ended up on the wrong side of the result. The Hurricanes snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. The Hobart Hurricanes won the match by 6 runs.

The Hurricanes won the toss and decided to bat first, the dangerous Ben McDermott was sent packing by a screamer from Jack Evans. Caleb Jewell and Mathew Wade took it upon themselves to build up a partnership for their side to take them past 70 runs in the first ten overs. Boyce however sent Caleb back to the pavilion before the young batter could do too much damage against the Renegades. Jewell scored 35 runs for his side off 29 deliveries. D'Arcy Short however stabilised the innings for his side alongside Wade as the two took the Hurricanes past the 100 run mark. Wade fell just two runs short of his fifty, as Evans managed to send him packing in the 14th over. The Hurricanes however picked up the pace in the final four overs of the game as Tim David smashed the bowlers all across the park scoring an unbeaten 46 runs out of just 20 deliveries to help the Hurricanes reach 182 at the end of the twenty overs.

The Renegades started the chase in some fashion. They came out with positive intent and kept going at every possible opportunity. Rogers did manage to dismiss Seymour and slow things for just a while. Finch and Marsh slowly got into the thick of the things. They started to pick up the pace once they were set. The Australian duo managed to stitch a hundred run partnership for the second wicket. They smashed the Hurricane bowlers to all parts of the ground. The chase seemed one-sided as long as both of them were out there in the middle. But post the departure of Marsh things did get a bit difficult for the Renegades. Finch tried his best but he too was dismissed in the 19th over of the match. Renegades fell just short of the target. The Hobart Hurricanes won by 6 runs in the end.

The Hurricanes win by 6 runs.

19.6 R Meredith to W Sutherland
W Sutherland gets a full toss and he ends up hitting that straight up in the air and the Hurricanes are in the final with a tough-earned victory. Tries to heave this down the leg side and ends up getting a top edge. The mid-off fielder runs across the field to take the catch at a mid-on position. A come from behind victory for the Hobart Hurricanes and they will enjoy every bit of it.
Ayan: 7 to win off 1 ball. 6 to take us to the Super Over.
19.5 R Meredith to W Sutherland
4 That is smashed down the ground for a boundary. A six will tie the game now. Was in the slot from Meredith just outside the off-stump. Sutherland clears his front leg and smashes this back past the bowler wide of the mid-off fielder and off to the boundary ropes. What drama.
19.4 R Meredith to S Harper
1 A full toss this time. Harper only manages to hit that down the square leg area. Was close to being called a no-ball. Not called in the end. A single taken. Will be interesting to see the replays.
19.3 R Meredith to W Sutherland
1 Hit firmly but straight to the cover fielder. Hurricanes are about to get over the line. Fuller outside the off-stump which is sliced away down the cover area for a single.
19.2 R Meredith to S Harper
1b Again a slower one from Meredith. Harper gets across the off-stump and tries to get over the fine-leg fielder but doesn't make any connection. Still they go through for the bye single.
19.1 R Meredith to W Sutherland
1 Sutherland flicks it away, pushes hard for a couple but in the end only a single taken. Was a slower length delivery just on the off-stump channel and only a single.

18.6 T Rogers to S Harper
2 Sensible batting from Harper. Rogers ends the over with a slower delivery. Just outside off and that is worked away down the deep square leg area and by the time the fielder gets around and throws the ball back in play, an easy couple is completed.

18.5 T Rogers to J Merlo
W Another one bites the dust. Short safe hands and from a position where they should have achieved victory, Renegades are faltering big time. A full-length delivery on the stumps. Merlo tries to get under that but again doesn't get the timing. Couldn't quite get the strength to power that over the bowler's head and carries all the way through to the fielder. Rogers is on a hat-trick.
