That's the end of our coverage for this game. Do switch tabs as Brisbane Heat take on Perth Scorchers at Docklands Stadium. This is me, Akshay Bhide, signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Ayan Chatterjee and Ajay Ahire. Bye Bye.
Ian Cockbain | Player of the Match: "Happy to get a win. I was playing club cricket in Melbourne and played for Gloucestershire in the County season. Put my name in the hat and it has been an amazing journey so far. I have been watching the Big Bash League over the years and am so happy to be a part of it. I'm 34 years old now and still learning."

Akshay: That’s it folks. A four to finish the game and magnificent performance from the Strikers see them defeat the Sixers to grab crucial points. They outplayed the defending champions in all facets of the game and eventually completed a comprehensive win as they seal a spot in the finals.

It was the Sydney Sixers skipper Moises Henriques who won the toss and opted to bat first. They got off to a cautious start. Fawad Ahmed was introduced after the powerplay and he broke the opening stand by dismissing Josh Philippe. The Sixers struggled in the middle overs as runs dried up.

Justin Avendano arrived at the crease and changed the course of the match as he smashed a quickfire fifty to power his side to 161 in their 20 overs. Fawad Ahmed starred with the ball for the Strikers, picking up three wickets and skipper Peter Siddle too chipped in with two scalps.

The Strikers got off to a flying start, thanks to some brilliant striking from Matt Renshaw. They scored 49 in their mandatory powerplay of four overs which laid them a good foundation. Renshaw brought up his fifty off just 30 balls but was dismissed on the very next ball.

Ian Cockbain at the other end kept going nicely as he brought up a well-composed half-century. He along with Jonathan Wells put up a solid partnership to guide their side across the line. Cockbain remained unbeaten on 71 as he meant business right from the start. The Strikers chased down the total in the 18th over with eight wickets in hand to grab crucial points.
