Milestone
That is it from the first fixture of the Big Bash today. For now, this is me Badal Pareek signing it off along with my Co-commentators Ayan and Anmol. Don't go away as we have the second fixture from the BBL lined up for you
Riley Meredith (Player of the Match):  "Very good fight from the boys, they came out hard against us, but we needed to keep calm and hit our areas. I know my role well, a could upfront and then come back in the middle overs. Still not 100%, but I'm getting there with every game."
The Hurricanes won the toss and decided to bat first. Matthew Wade's 83 off 54 balls helped the Hurricanes get to 177 runs in their 20 overs. It seemed to be a decent first innings total. But, once Hales and Sangha got going for the Thunders in the second innings it felt as if it will be a bit too easy for them. The Hurricanes came back into the game by picking up multiple wickets through the middle overs. Meredith's back to back wickets made life difficult for the Thunders out in the middle. Hurricanes kept on the pressure and managed to win by 9 runs in the end.

Matthew Wade led from the front for the Hurricanes by staying unbeaten on 83 off 54 balls. They lost McDermott early by Caleb Jewell and Wade stitched a great partnership for the second wicket. He contributed with 51 off 34 balls. Hurricanes lost their way in the middle after being 87 after 10 overs, the other batter didn't really contribute much to the total. They did manage to go big in the power surge courtesy of Wade.

The chase was full of ups and downs. The Sydney Thunders lost Gilkes early but post his departure they went hard at it. Hales 38(17) and Sangha 31(19) were thrashing the bowlers to all parts of the ground. They lost their way through the middle overs and lost a few too many wickets. Suddenly, a simple runs chase became complicated thanks to Riley Meredith's bowling. They went from being 92 for 2 after 8.1 overs to being 102 for 5 after 10.4 overs. Holt and McAndrew managed to get things back on track for the Thunders. They came together and stitched a decent partnership for the 7th wicket. Holt and McAndrew both went down in the 18th over as they tried to take on Lamichhane. All of a sudden, the chase become a lot more difficult for the Thunders. They needed 26 off the last two overs to win. But, it was a bit too much to ask from the lower order batter. The Hurricanes won the match by 9 runs in the end.
Hobart Hurricanes won by 9 runs.
