Andre Russell has been chosen as 'Player of The Match' for his 42*(21)

"No, I am not jet-lagged much as I have spent a few days in quarantine. Also, boys have been treating me well though I am still maintaining social distancing with them (laughs). As we bowled first here, we knew which deliveries can be hit here as slower deliveries were gripping off the surface but I backed myself to play my game."
Andre Russell has been awarded the Player of the Match award for his knock of 42 off 21 balls which had 1 four and 5 sixes. Strike Rate Bang on at 200. A blistering effort and performance it was.
A comprehensive win for the Melbourne Stars as they thrash the Sydney Thunder here by 6 wickets with 17 balls to spare. 4 more points to their kitty after they bagged the Bash Boost Point.

What we saw today was the Dre Russ show. Unbeaten on 42 off 21 balls with 1 four and 5 sixes and some of them were humongous. Giving him good company was Cartwright who remains not out on 23 off 13 balls. An unbeaten 72 off 34 balls this partnership. Good contributions from Glenn Maxwell 40 off 25 balls, Marcus Stoinis also scored 31 off 30 balls. Tanveer Sangha bowled really well in his 2-20 in 4 overs picking up Stoinis and Maxwell of consecutive balls. But it was all in vain as the Dre Russ show was just too much to handle for the Thunder team.

Earlier today, Thunder put up 151-5 in their allotted 20 overs thanks to Alex Ross's unbeaten 77 off 50 balls in the partnership with Daniel Sams who played well for his 22 off 18 balls. Alex Hales for the Thunder scored 28 at the top of the order. Qais Ahmed was good with the ball for the Stars 2-17 in 4 overs. He was ably supported by Brody Couch as he finished with 2-26 in 4 overs. Glenn Maxwell picked up a wicket in the only over he bowled. 1 over 1-7. All in all, professional performance by the Stars as they complete the double over Thunder. They love playing them overall head-to-head as well. MCG was close. Tonight, it was clinical.

Stick around to find out who won the Player of the Match Award. I guess it should be an easy choice in my opinion.
17.1 G Sandhu to H Cartwright
4 And he finishes it off with a boundary! Short of length on the body as he pulls it to square leg boundary for four. A thumping win for Stars!

WD Fuller but way too outside off, wide given

16.2 N McAndrew to H Cartwright
6 Six! Length ball on leg stump, it's right in his arc as he pulls it with full extension of his arms for over the boundary on deep square leg. Top shot!

What an effort this from Sams. Takes the catch and tries to flick it back to his partner. But he seems to have touched the ropes. They have referred. The soft signal for the catch is OUT! Checking did he land on the ropes. Otherwise, it's a rebound catch. Zoomer is in now.  Remember, the benefit of the doubt goes to the Soft Signal. Umpire is ready to make his decision and it's NOT OUT. So, it's a SIX!
15.6 G Sandhu to A Russell
6 Short ball on the body as Russell pulled it with full force as he mistimed. Daniel Sams caught it but couldn't throw it back to playing field before touching the rope. So it's six. Fantastic effort goes in vain
15.6 G Sandhu to A Russell
WD Fuller but way too outside off as it missed Russell's wild swing
15.5 G Sandhu to A Russell
2 Full toss outside as he slashes it to sweeper cover. A fumble allows an extra run
15.4 G Sandhu to H Cartwright
1 Good length on the body as he pulls it to long leg for single
