Josh Phillipe:"It was a great performance and also a great start for us in the tournament. Everyone chipped in with a couple of fities and the bowlers did chip a lot of wickets too. I took a learning from the Bangladesh tour and implimented a lot of things after watching them closely. Its our home ground and we are much familiar to the conditions. Yeah, a lot of babies coming. Sean Abbot and Dan Christian are soon gonna have baby boy/baby girl." "

A no-show from Melbourne Stars in the end. They didn't perform with both bat and ball. But what a way to start the campaign for the defending champions, Sydney Sixers. They start the season with a mammoth 152-run victory!!

Chasing 214 for an unlikely victory, Melbourne Stars got off to a bad start as Joe Clarke edged a short delivery from Steve O'Keefe to the man at backward point. Nick Larkin also departed for a duck as O'Keefe got a second scalp in the first over itself. There was a lot of responsibility on Glenn Maxwell's shoulders but he missed a length delivery from Sean Abbott to get casted in the fourth over.

There was another double scalp in the sixth over as Hayden Kerr got the better of Peter Nevill and Hilton Cartwright. The misery only got worse when Sean Abbott forced Beau Webster and Sam Rainbird to nick off to Josh Philippe in the eighth over. The veteran left-arm spinner, O'Keefe came back into the attack once again as he sent back Sam Elliott and Adam Zampa. In the end, Tom Curran bowled a superb slower delivery to fox Brody Couch as the Stars were rolled over for a mere 62
11.1 T Curran to B Couch
W Slow and full, Couch doesn't pick it and just skies it on the off-side. Daniel Christian runs across to his left to take a good catch. So, that is it, Melbourne Stars have been rolled over for 61!!
