With that, Chepauk move into the top of the points table and stamp their authority in the crucial phase of the tournament. SO that is all from our side. This is good night from Kigshuk Kusari and my fellow commentator Akshay Bhide. Do tune into the multitude of games that we are covering at the moment. bye bye.
Maniraman Siddharth gets the man of the. match, for bowling an astonishing spell. Kaushik Gandhi picks up the commander of the match award.
Presentation coming up.
This match will be remembered for an absolutely breathtaking catch by Sonu Yadav in the outfield, who flung himself to the right side at the edge of the boundary line to grab hold of a world class catch.
Earlier in the day, it was Maniraman Siddharth's night, who absolute bludgeoned through the Panthers batting order picking up four wickets for just 20 runs. From their, Panthers struggled for momentum and an exceptional over at the death by Sonu Yadav sealed the deal for Chepauk in the first half of the game. If it were not for captain NS Chaturved's brilliant 70 off 50 balls, things would have looked horribly disastrous for Panther's in the field.
Gandhi was the pick of the batsmen from Chepauk and scored a fine 64 off 50 balls before getting out late in the innings. The rest of the batsmen played around him and made decent contributions throughout the order.
An easy victory by the reigning champions who put authoritative performances in both half of the game. The bowled well to squeeze out Panthers in the first innings, then return to make easy work out of the chase by making sure they start on a really positive note. An aggressive start by captain Kaushik Gandhi meant that it was just a matter of time till the target got chased down. Some sloppy work in the field by Panthers did not help either and they overall had a below par day in the field
18.5 V Gowtham to H Kumar
1 That's it. A slower ball outside off, Kumar pushes it in the gap towards cover point and completes a quick run. A comprehensive performance from the Chepauk Super Gillies as they defeat the Siechem Madurai Panthers by 5 wickets.
18.4 V Gowtham to R Sathish
1 Short outside off, Sathish cuts it towards deep point for a single.
18.3 V Gowtham to H Kumar
1 A low full toss outside off, Kumar hits it towards long off and gives the strike back to Sathish.
18.2 V Gowtham to R Sathish
1 Sathish shuffles across and was going for a big slog but decides against it as he guides the slower delivery towards third man for a single.
18.1 V Gowtham to R Sathish
4 FOUR!!!! This should seal the game for the Super Gillies. Gowtham bowls it full outside off, Sathish glides it past point and the fielder in the deep has no chance of stopping that one. One shot away from the win now.
