That's the end of our coverage for the day. Do join us tomorrow as we bring you the double header from TNPL. Till the next time, it's a ta-ta and a goodnight from me, Anurag Dasgupta and my co-commentators, Arjun bhalla and Akshay Bhide.
Hari Nishaanth | Dragons captain: We should give the credit to our coach for the belief they had on us. We have three wins, so we need to build on from here. My plan is to play till the end. I wasn't timing the ball well at the start, others like Vivek and Srini took the pressure off me. It's an added responsibility but I am enjoying it (on captaincy).
R Vivek | Player of the Match: It was coach's idea (about his batting promotion). They have retained me, there was more pressure on me. In the last three games, everyone performed well. So, I was eager to contribute today.
Daryl Ferrario | Salem captain: "We had decent start but once we started losing wickets we never recovered from the collapse. Gopinath is a huge player for us, so we missed him today. It was comical to be honest - the running between the wickets,"
DG: Earlier in the day, Salem Spartans won the toss and elected to bowl first. It was the deadly partnership for the second-wicket between Hari Nishaanth and Rajendran Vivek that laid the foundation for a big score. Both Nishaanth and Vivek scored their respective half-centuries and shifted quickly from one gear to another in style. Mokit Hariharan provided the late blast and played an entertaining cameo of 32 that helped the Dragons cross the 180-run mark.
DG: Chasing a stiff target of 186, the Spartans lost the match inside the powerplay when half the side was back to the pavilion. Wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals and the momentum was lost very early in the run-chase. At 41/5, it looked like the Spartans will be bundled out cheaply, but Murugun Ashwin, who is known for his exploits with the ball in hand, started to resurrect the innings, but it was all too late. He played a handy knock of 47 and was the lone warrior for the Salem Spartans. In the end, the target of 186 was too big for the chasing side who crumbled under pressure and were bundled out for 109.
DG: That’s the end of the match and it has been a dominant victory for the Dindigul Dragons who have won this crucial encounter by a whopping 76 runs. It was a complete team performance and the Dragons have outplayed the Spartans in all three departments of the game.
18.4 L Vignesh to M Ashwin
W In the air and taken. That's the end of the game. Vignesh bowls it outside off away from Ashwin's arc as he slices it high in the air and Hariharan in the deep in the off side completes a simple catch. With this, the Dragons beat Spartans by 76 runs.
18.3 L Vignesh to M Ashwin
6 SIXXX!!!! That's a massive hit from Ashwin. Something to cheer for the Spartans' fans. In the slot around off, Ashwin sits back in the crease and smacks it over long on fence for a maximum.
18.2 L Vignesh to G Periyaswamy
1 Fuller one outside off, Periyaswamy puts bat to it to push it past covers for a single.
18.1 L Vignesh to M Ashwin
1 Vignesh starts with a low full toss outside off, Ashwin shuffles and sweeps it behind square for a single.
