That's all from our side for this game...You stay with us for all the LIVE COVERAGE.
Nishaanth hailed Bharathi’s efforts. “Mani Bharathi was outstanding. I enjoyed it from the other end. I'm happy that we won our first game as captain, but one regret is that me and Mani couldn't finish it off. The wicket was good to bat on and we had a discussion with our coach Badri. He told us if they can get runs, we can as well. Certainly there was pressure at the end, losing all those wickets. 35 off 25 was pressure but our boys somehow did it,” he said.
Bharathi who scored a match-winning 81 runs off just 32 deliveries expressed his delight and thanked the coach to send him up the order. “I was confident from the start, that I should win this for my side. I want to thank the coach for sending me at 3. The plan was to come later but they sent me in. It would be nice if I get to bat at 3 for the rest of the tournament,” he said.
Kovai Kings captain Shahrukh Khan expressed his disappointment on the defeat and said that he wasn’t expecting Dindigul to chase down the target. “I thought the wicket was a little slow when we batted. I didn't think they would get 200 so easily. It was a good fight from us, so no hard feelings. It's just a learning curve for us. We need to come back stronger in the next game,” he said.
Earlier, Lyca Kovai Kings rode on some fine piece of batting from Raju, Suresh and Sudharsan to post 201/1 in 20 overs. Raju top-scored for the side with an unbeaten 90 off 57 balls while Suresh too notched up a half-century…Sudharsan remained unbeaten at 24-ball 40. The three batsmen hammered the opponents all around the park to help their side post a big total.
Dindigul were handed over a target of a mammoth 202 runs in 20 overs which they chased down successfully…They lost an early wicket in the form of Arun who was undone for 20 off 16 by Srinivasan but captain Nishaanth and Bharathi took on the Lyca Kovai bowling attack and stitched a stand of 153 runs for the second wicket before Nishaanth departed for a 37-ball 70…the Dragons then lost three more wickets without adding a single run to their score which included the dismissal of a well set Bharathi who chipped in with 81 off 32. But Lokeshwar and Swaminathan then made sure that Dindigul don’t lose any more wickets and the two batsmen took the team over the line with two overs to spare.
That's the end of the game...Dindigul have chased down a target of 202 by 5 wickets and with a couple of overs to spare...What an incredible run chase this has been...SIMPLY OUTSTANDING!
