That brings us to the end of our coverage from the series decider. Catch us for all the matches across the globe. Till the next time, it's adieous from Arya Sekhar Chakraborty and my fellow commentators Kingshuk Kusari and Anurag Dasgupta. Good night folks.
It's time for Dasun Shanaka to lift the trophy and pose for the photographs.
Dasun Shanaka- Yah first of all I should thank BCCI. Under these circumstances they agreed to play. Special thanks to Rahul Dravid and Shikhar Dhawan. This is our best bowling performance in the last two years. Actually I got the option, I used them handy in the middle. Yeah not only myself but all the boys were working hard on the fitness. Started from Bangladesh, they want to be world class. Look at how Wanindu performed, Chameera performed. Karunaratne has been a big plus. Really proud of how they have played. Lucky to lead this team. When a low score is set is really hard. I expect positive starts in the future. Still they are young, learning the situation.
Time for Dasun Shanaka to collect the winning cheque. Big smiles from the skipper.
Shikhar Dhawan- Yeah absolutely, a difficult situation for us. As a team we decided to stay back and continue the series. I am really proud the way the boys played. Their attitude was tremendous. Ofcourse we wanted to win, in. every day every game we are learning. It was a tough day for us, boys go and analyse the situations. Ofcourse we lost too many wickets and the Sri Lankan bowlers bowled very well. They were turning the ball. When we lose early wickets with one batsman down we couldn't do anything more. I totally agree that both the teams played in great spirit. It's beautifully we were competitive on the field. The boys wanted to know my process or how I take things in my game. I was sharing whatever experience I have gained in these years and I hope the Sri Lankan boys enjoyed listening to me.
Wanindu Hasaranga- Wicket was slow then our spinner bowled really well. When I bowling, I always try to bowl dot ball so that's why easily I take wickets. Dasun was amazing. Good ground fielding from the team. Actually I am really happy because our boys did really well through the ODIs and T20s.
Wanindu Hasaranga is also the Player of the series for bagging 7 wickets in 3 matches.
Wanindu Hasaranga is the Player of the Match for his exceptional spell.
It's time for the Post Match Presentation Ceremony
Shikhar Dhawan is having a chat with the Sri Lankan team and it's so good to see the young Sri Lankan team eager to learn from the opponent team. No ego whatsoever.
Arya: From there on it was always going to be a tall task for India with a batsman down. The wicket of Nitish Rana was the final nail in the coffin as he was the last recognised batsman left. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav tried to build a partnership but could never get going. Eventually, they could only muster 82 which was never going to be enough. Hasaraga was the star of the Match for Sri Lanka finishing with exceptional figures of 4/9 in 4 overs. It was a disappointing performance from the Indian batters, especially their inability to play quality spin in helpful wickets.
Arya: It was Shikhar Dhawan who won the toss and surprisingly decided to bat first. It was a sad tale for the Indian batting line-up as they had no answer in front of a masterful spell of spin bowling by Wanindu Hasaranga. Ruturaj Gaikwad struck a wonderful boundary to begin proceedings but Dhawan was dismissed for a golden duck at the other end. A brainfade moment saw Devdutt Padikkal heading back to the pavilion while Sanju Samson and Gaikwad was bamboozled by exceptional googlies from Hasaranga.
Arya: A target of 83 was always going to be way below par and despite an exceptional piece of wrist spin bowling by Rahul Chahar, Sri Lanka eased to the target with more than five overs to spare. Avishka Fernando played some wonderful shots to begin his wicket but it was Rahul Chahar who gave India the maiden breakthrough. He bowled beautifully and looked the most likely bowler to get a wicket for India. Minod Bhanuka and Sadeera Samarawickrama also fell prey to Chahar as he ended with figures of 3/15 in his quota of 4 overs. He didn't got enough support from the other end as Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav couldn't quite get the purchase what they would have wanted. Dhananjaya de Silva again played the anchor's role to perfection and along with the Man of the Moment Wanindu Hasaranga chased the target down with utmost ease.
Arya: A historic series win for Sri Lanka. This might not be against the best Indian side but you cannot take anything away from the young Sri Lankan brigade. They were quite exceptional in the last two matches and made most of the problems faced by the Indian squad owing to COVID-19. The target was never going to bother them and in the end it turned out to be a stroll in the park as they win by 7 wickets and with 32 deliveries to spare.
Player review for a caught behind. Third umpire asks for front on spin vision. Appears to be close to the bat, Ultra-edge to confirm. Flat line the ball passes the bat. Asks Kumar Dharmasena to overturn his decision.
14.4 V Chakravarthy to Silva
WD Is it a wicket? Looks not out from the naked eye. Umpire Dharmasena has given that an out. Slants the length delivery just down leg. DDS misses the attempted flick as the ball fizzes past the blade and goes to the keeper. India appeal for a caught behind. Nothing on the ultra-edge. Late drama here as Dharmasena has to reverse his decision and it is also called a wide. Well, there's the winning run. Sri Lanka have won this game by 7 wickets.
14.3 V Chakravarthy to Silva
2lb Fires in a quicker one on the pads. The ball hits DDS on the thigh pad and rolls past the keeper towards third man for a couple of runs. Leg byes signalled by the umpire..
14.2 V Chakravarthy to W Hasaranga
1 Another easy single collected. Tossed up on the stumps. Hasranga miscues the slog as the ball kisses the inner part of the blade and rolls down the leg side.
14.1 V Chakravarthy to Silva
1 Opens the face of the blade and stabs the length delivery in front of the short third man fielder to steal a quick run..
Kingshuk: I think you have the answer now DG. Just one wicket for India and SL have safely negotiated this game.
