Mohammad Rizwan: When the team peforms according to the situation your job becomes very easy. The bowling effort was too good and everyone contributed. It's complete team work. Dunk has a lot of experience opening and he said he wanted to open today. Unfortunately, it didn't come off. Time for the Post-match Presentation
While Haris Rauf's expensive final over provided a lot of momentum to Multan Sultans, Lahore Qalandars batted really poorly. With the middle-order struggling for a while, the batting order changes made the scenario worse as Ben Dunk and Sohail Akhtar switched positions. This huge loss has put Qalandars' play-off spot hanging by a thread. If Karachi Kings beat Quetta Gladiators tomorrow in the first game, Qalandars will be out to their inferior net run-rate.
Tim David and James Faulkner tried to do something and the latter did give some hope by smashing two sixes and a boundary off Blessing. However, Imran Khan was brought back into the attack and he responded superbly by castling David. The fiery Dhani dismissed both Faulkner and Rashid Khan with sharp bouncers. Soon, Imran Khan had Haris Rauf caught in the deep while Shaheen Afridi skied a catch to Rilee Rossouw to put an end to the game.
After struggling for a while, Fakhar Zaman was dismissed by Dhani in the fifth over. Mohammad Hafeez didn't stay in the middle for long too as he picked out the point fielder off a short delivery from Blessing Muzarabani. The malaise continued as Imran Tahir had Sohail Akhtar stumped while Agha Salman scooped a length delivery from Blessing straight to Rizwan
Game, set and match says Shahnawaz Dhani. Lahore Qalandars have been rolled over for a mere 89 with the duo of Dhani and Imran Khan combining to prize out seven scalps. Dhani, in particular, finishes with mind-boggling figures of 3.1-1-5-4. Just a masterclass in hard-length bowling by the young seamer. The chase didn't get off to a good start as Imran Khan dismissed Ben Dunk in the second over to upset Qalandars' experiment.
