That's it from the comm box, very good night folks. Hope you enjoyed the live coverage. This was me, Arjun Bhalla, alongside my co-commentators Anurag Singh and Vikhyat Jain. See you tomorrow for another PSL encounter as Quetta Gladiators would be taking on Lahore Qalandars. Tata!
Shadab Khan | Islamabad United captain: It's a team game and when our top-order fails then our lower order performs well, so I think everyone understands their roles well. Our intensity on the field wasn't great, and that's not expected from a young team. If all the players give 100%, then the result will always be on our side. In the heat of the moment, we might have fights, but eventually, we're all good friends off the field.
Iftikhar Ahmed | Player of the Match: Our captain and coach ask us to play till the end, so I try to minimize dots and finish it off. We have to be adaptable to the batting position; I just have to perform for the team and I'm happy I've done that.
Iftikhar Ahmed gets the Player of the Match award and a cheque of PKR 750,000
Imad Wasim | Captain Karachi Kings: We don't have many options with the ball, to be frank. It was harder for the spinners and I couldn't bowl all my overs because my finger was injured, and we need to talk about this to be honest. We were 15-20 runs short, and we should've targeted the bowlers a lot better. We played poorly, didn't take our catches, and if we don't play well enough, we can't expect results to go our way. Nothing to lose, so we'll definitely try to come back hard.
Arjun: To answer back the Kings, United, too, had a quick start as the in-form opening pair of Khawaja and Munro put 28 runs on the board but the Aussie was soon removed by Abbas Afridi and then Akhlaq was undone by Maqsood. Islamabad were two-down in a pressure run-chase and then came out Iftikhar to the middle. The pair of Colin and Iftikhar started their engines slowly, but when they stepped on the gas, no bowler was excused. Kings bowler, too, gave the chances to the pair as both the batters were dropped in the run-fest. That was all they needed, the Kiwi man started the bashing and Ahmed anchored around. But when Iftikhar took the charge, Munro’s assault seemed not that pinching. In the end, the Men in Red corner emerged as a dominant force, their chief architects ended with an unbeaten stand of 150 runs as United win by eight wickets with the same number of balls remaining.
Arjun: I just have three little for this game, “WOW”! Shadab Khan won the toss against Karachi Kings and invited his mates to bat first here in Abu Dhabi. Sharjeel and Babar started attacking the United as they are off to a brilliant start, before Javed took the former. However, the Kings didn’t lose the momentum as Azam and Najibullah laid a batting exhibition after losing Guptill. A pristine class act of Babar was on display who played a magnificent knock of 81 runs whereas Zadran played an innings of 71* under the wings of Azam. In the end, the defending champions finished with a mammoth total of 190 runs on the board.
Arjun: It's done, the game's over for Karachi Kings. It has been a dominating performance from Islamabad United as they have chased a mammoth total with some ease. Convincing win for Islamabad and they are now the team to beat!
