Milestone
This is all from our side but cricket never ends here. Keep a tab on our live coverages of IND-WI 3rd ODI, PSL and BPL. This is me, Arjun Bhalla signing off on the behalf of my colleagues - Anurag Dasgupta, Anurag Singh and Vishnu Verma.
Dasun Shanaka | Losing Captain: "We had lots of positives with the bowling and in the field. I thought we did better in those departments. Obviously we didn't get any partnerships going from the start. It's been a concern even from the last tour we were here. We need to come up with a better plan for the next game."
Aaron Finch | Australia Captain: "It was nice to get the win. I thought we had to bowl well to defend that total on this wicket. We probably left ourselves a little bit short with the bat. We got ourselves into a position where we were one wicket down too many at stages after the 12th over. But an unbelievable effort from the bowlers."
Adam Zampa: "It's a world class bowling attack. To have those guys up the other end building pressure. That pressure built up tonight and I was lucky enough to be on the end of a couple of wickets."
Adam Zampa gets the Man of the Match for his enthralling spell of 3 for 18.

After seeing the first innings one could have said, the World Champions have survived an unforeseen loss at the hands of Sri Lanka. The tourists may have kept Australia down on 150 runs in the first innings. But this varied Aussie attack today stated that a mere total of 150 runs is more than good for them. At least against Sri Lanka’s mediocre batting.

The home team’s new-ball bowler kicked off their innings with disciplined lines and lengths, resulting in Gunathilaka's wicket off Hazlewood. Nissanka played a couple of glorious, first against Starc and then took the attack to Stoinis, but his strike rate was never at par. That backfired for the Lankans, but we’ll come to that later.

Australia scripted a famous win in the series-opener and the chief architect for that was Adam Zampa. The wrist-spinner was spellbinding against the Asian side as they failed to pick variations both from hand and off the deck. For instance, Hasaranga and Asalanka were done with leg-breaks, while the leggie outslicked the stylish but struggling Nissanka.

Coming onto what backfired for the Lankans, the opener played a 37-ball long knock where he served five beautiful boundaries and a dreamy maximum. However, he could only score 36 runs (out of which 26 runs from boundaries), meaning despite hitting the ball marvellously, Nissanka struggled to place the ball in gaps and rotate singles or doubles. That backfired!

When Nissanka got dismissed, Sri Lanka were left under enormous pressure and the other batters couldn’t take that load. As a result, they lost as many as seven wickets in just 40 runs. Two portions of rain-breaks also helped the home team, however even without the rain-break, Australia would have been too good for Sri Lanka.

18.6 M Starc to D Chandimal
1 Last ball of the innings. Yorker to finish the game. Chandimal fends it down to mid wicket and will take a single to end the game. A comprehensive victory for the home side..
18.5 M Starc to D Chandimal
4 Full toss once again and I reckon that's waist high. Should have been called a no-ball. Chandimal goes for a swing down the leg side, but the ball takes the top-edge and flies past the keeper for a boundary..
18.4 M Starc to D Chandimal
0 Full toss and Starc gets away with it. He only manages to push the ball towards the cover region for nothing..
18.3 M Starc to D Chandimal
6 Goes high, goes handsome!! What a strike from Chandimal! Width offered once again and the batter pounces on it. A tad fuller, outside the off. Chandimal swings his blade and smokes it over deep cover for a biggiee...
18.2 M Starc to B Fernando
0+1 Wonderful execution of the yorker! Fernando does really well to dig this towards the short mid off fielder. He wanted a single, but was rightly sent back by his partner. Inglis throws towards Wade and he fails to collect. The collect a single on overthrows.
18.1 M Starc to D Chandimal
1 Full, outside the off. Chandimal swings his bat and gets it from the toe-end towards long on for a single..

17.6 J Hazlewood to D Chandimal
1lb Can he get a fifer? No, he can't. Wonderful spell by Josh Hazlewood. Back of a length, comes back in slightly and strikes a blow on the abdomen. Chandimal misses the connection on his swipe and the ball rolls down to the off side for a leg bye..
17.5 J Hazlewood to B Fernando
1 Slower length delivery, outside the off. Fernando taps it towards point with gentle hands and sneaks in a single..
17.4 J Hazlewood to D Chandimal
1 Hazlewood couldn't get a fifer here! Slower back of a length delivery and another miscued pull, this time from Chandimal. The ball takes the top-edge and falls well short of the man at deep mid..
17.3 J Hazlewood to D Chandimal
0 Bowls a slower back of a length delivery into Chandimal. He plays a nothing shot and gets an inside edge onto his pads.
