Arjun: Earlier, in the end, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first. However, the Sri Lankan spinners bowled economically and Dhananjaya de Sliva picked three crucial wickets. After that, the stand between Mushfiqur and Mahmudullah really set the tone in the middle overs. But the former was removed to dry up the runs as Bangladesh scored 257/6 in 50 overs.
Arjun: But the twist in the tale was awaiting. Saif became the party spoiler for the Men in Blue and Yellow as he ended Hasaranga’s heroic on 74 and Fizz got rid of Udana. The Number ten and eleven batters (Chameera & Sandakan) tried their level best. In the end, the match was out of their reach and Bangladesh sealed the game by 33 runs.
Arjun: The off-break bowler was well supported by Shakib in the middle overs, the Tigers were on the verge of closing the game, but Wanindu Hasaranga wasn’t there to make things that easy for the hosts. He shook hands with Shanaka to calm the nerves for the visiting dugout, before a nip backer from Saifuddin ended the night for the latter. Hasaranga was then supported by Isaru Udana. The pair made sure that their team starts the series on a winning note with a 62-run solid-looking stand.
Arjun: The chase started with a bang for Sri Lanka as Gunathilaka hammered Ahmed around the park, before handing himself to Mehidy Hasan. Nissanka followed the opener as he gifted his wicket to Mustafizur. The skipper & his assistant chief decided to take command of the sinking Lankan ship. However, both of them were removed by Hasan. The offie took another scalp of Dhananjaya de Silva to settle all the Sri Lankan hopes deep in the cold water.
Bangladesh have registered ten more points on the ODI Super League table. As the hosts seal the game with a 33-run win.
