That's all from us for today's game! It was an easy victory for the West Indies as England continue to puncture. We have the second game of the series coming up in under 24 hours. This was Ajay who along with AkshayaKrishna Polya and Ninaad Dixit brought you all the live actions from the fascinating match. Do join us tomorrow for that. Until then, take care and stay safe!
West Indies skipper Kieron Pollard: "I am really happy for the guys. Winning games is important for us. The wicket wasn't conducive to stroke-play, but the way we came out and played was great. This is Jason's ground. He was phenomenal. The guys put on a show in the field today. These new guys are looking to settle into international cricket. They were fantastic today, really happy for these guys. King did well in Pakistan as well. He comes in with confidence. Nicholas usually goes hard, but to see him finish the game was good to see. We have to come back in less than 24 hours for another game. The easiest thing for us is to crumble, but these guys are sticking together really well."
England skipper Eoin Morgan: "Not the start we were after. The conditions were right opposite to the wicket played on a few days ago. We will have to come back tomorrow fresh and execute things better. It's a little more bounce in this region, but it was a little inconsistent. It is the nature of international cricket. You get exposed in different stages of your career. Some of these guys are just starting their careers. The support was amazing. We hope to play better cricket in the upcoming games."
Player of the Match Jason Holder: "It feels good to perform for the team. It was tough series against Ireland. It feels great to bounce back, and I am really pleased with the effort by the team as a whole. I was happy to see the ball through like that. Consistency is the key for us in terms of pitch preparation. The fielding was perfect. I hope we can repeat the same tomorrow."
King top-scored for the hosts, carrying his bat with a 49-ball 55. The lone wicket that fell in the second innings went to Adil Rashid, who eventually finished with figures of 1/21 from his four overs. It will be interesting to see how the English side comes back, if they do, in the next game, which is set to take place tomorrow at the same venue.
England's nightmare in the game of cricket continues! Neither the change in the colour of their jersey nor the shift from red to white ball changed the fortunes for Morgan & Co. From one corner of the world to the other, the English side continues to struggle. A target of 103 was never enough, and a win for West Indies was inevitable. While some good spin bowling by Liam Dawson and Adil Rashid took the chase a little deep, West Indies were never under any pressure as they had ample balls to get to their target. With a comfortable win in Barbados, Pollard & Co. take a 1-0 lead in the five-game series.
17.1 T Mills to B King
1 And it's all over. Victory by nine wickets to West Indies! Full and on the stumps. King gets behind in his crease and opens the face of the bat to find the gap through the covers. Gets the required single and looks for the second run failing to understand that the result has been achieved. What a win for West Indies against a top quality England line up!
Tymal Mills to continue for the eighteenth over. Looks like this one will be the final over of the night.
16.6 S Mahmood to B King
1 Finishes the over with another single. West Indies are just one run away. Attempted yorker on the off stump, worked away towards the left of mid off for a single.
16.5 S Mahmood to N Pooran
1 Back of a length again. Pitched on the leg stump and angled across to the left hander. Pulls away and keeps the ball down towards the left of deep mid wicket for a single.
16.4 S Mahmood to B King
1 Gets to his half century with this single! Full and on the middle stump, worked away towards long on for one run.
16.3 S Mahmood to B King
4 100 comes up for West Indies in style! Slower delivery, back of a length outside the off stump. Gives a lot of width on offer. King stands his ground and punches this through the covers for four!
16.2 S Mahmood to N Pooran
1 Follows that up with a short delivery on the leg stump. Pooran jumps and pulls this away towards deep mid wicket. Moeen Ali runs towards his right and does the fielding. Just a single.
16.1 S Mahmood to N Pooran
4 Saqib Mahmood is back in the attack from over the wicket and is welcomed with a boundary! Good length outside the off stump. Pooran uses the room, and cuts through the vacant point region for four! What a majestic stroke that is! Times it and middles it so well!
