Milestone
KL Rahul: We don't wanna get too ahead of ourselves, we're slowly coming together as a team. I said this after the first game as well, we're a young team. We add new names every year and we've to be patient. Hooda has been playing really well, Shahrukh's taken his opportunities, and Bishnoi today. Me and coach did have a long chat about batting second, I felt that the wicket was sticky and the first few games we've batted and felt that the bowlers were always under pressure. I felt it was important that bowlers get to bowl in those conditions and we heard that there was a lot of dew. So I felt like it can ease up and come on better - that didn't happen, but we knew what to chase and that helped. The dry ball did play a big part, it just started ripping. When that happens it gets real hard to even get singles. But it was good of Chris, he figured out who to target, that's the benefit of having someone like him. Ravi's been working real hard with Anil bhai, there were a few things he had to correct, and he's worked really hard and he's held his composure against a solid batting line-up.
KL Rahul has been named as the 'Player of the Match'
Time for the Presentation ceremony
Mayank Agarwal: It was nice to get two points on the board, finishing it off with 9 wickets in hand was good, the way we paced our innings was excellent. The discussion (between myself and Rahul) was simple - play proper and good cricketing shots, try to play as straight as possible, especially on slow pitches like this, unless the ball was short where we could play on the square. We were looking for a good powerplay, that's what we did. We just need to keep backing the bowlers, remind them of the plans and keep up with the energy levels, that was most important as we don't have crowds to support us. That helps keep everyone up and running
Rohit Sharma: Not enough runs. I still feel it is not a bad wicket to bat on. You saw how they batted and won the game by 9 wickets. It is just the application which is missing in our batting. If you get 150-160 on this wicket then you are always in the game, that is something we failed to do in the last two games. You can look at it either way, I thought their bowlers bowled well in the powerplay, Ishan was trying to hit but couldn't get it and even I was not able to hit. We have batted well in the powerplay but today we failed to do so. Something is missing in our batting line-up, we are not able 20 overs in the fashion we want and something that we have to look at and see what we can do. It was just a tactical thing, we wanted someone who would bat well against the spinners and SKY was the one to do that. But when you play on such a challenging pitch then you have to be ready for all the possibilities. When you try, if it works it looks good and if it doesn't work then it looks bad, but we always back the decision we make. We are not putting enough effort on the field and when the conditions are tough you need to understand how you need to bat and how you need to bowl.
Even though Rahul Chahar and Jayant Yadav bowled well, the score posted by the Mumbai batsmen was never going to be enough. The difference was made in the Powerplay phase as itself as Punjab Kings made 45 runs as compared to the 21 managed by Mumbai Indians who failed to show any intent against part-time bowlers in the form of Moises Henriques and Deepak Hooda
The spin duo of Chahar and Jayant Yadav managed to tie down Gayle and the Jamaican was struggling with just 3 off 12 balls at one point. Just as the equation was getting a bit trickier, Gayle managed to break the shackles with three boundaries off the next two overs. Some sloppy bowling and fielding from Mumbai also helped as Punjab Kings romped home to a comfortable victory with 14 balls to spare
A cracking nine-wicket victory Punjab Kings in the end with KL Rahul and Chris Gayle leading the way. Trent Boult started off the 132-run defense well by just conceding one run off the first over. However, KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal managed to take 15 runs off the next over bowled by Krunal Pandya. The duo continued to look at ease as they scored 45 runs off the Powerplay. Mumbai's most prolific bowler this season, Rahul Chahar provided the first and only breakthrough in the seventh over and this helped the side to build some pressure
17.4 Trent Boult to Lokesh Rahul
4 Yorker outside-off, Rahul digs it to third-man for a boundary. This brings up a convincing victory against Mumbai Indians

1 Length delivery outside-off, Gayle pushes it in front of point for a single
Akshay: That's a brilliant shot by Gayle. A bit of Caribbean flair in that pull.
16.5 Jasprit Bumrah to Chris Gayle
4 Short and down the leg-side, Gayle helps it past fine-leg for a boundary. Rahul Chahar got to the ball but he flicked it to the fence.
16.4 Jasprit Bumrah to Chris Gayle
0 Oh! Peach!! Off-cutter on a length, the ball rears up and Gayle is forced to fend it behind point
16.3 Jasprit Bumrah to Lokesh Rahul
1 Lucky for KL Rahul!! Short of a length delivery, Rahul turns the bat face too early and gets a leading edge but the ball falls safely behind square-leg for a single. This brings up KL Rahul's fifty!
16.2 Jasprit Bumrah to Chris Gayle
1 Full on the stumps, Gayle turns it to point for a single. A direct-hit might have had Gayle in trouble
