That's all from the commentary box folks. Catch us tomorrow for the high-voltage match between the defending champions Mumbai Indians and the Delhi Capitals. Till then it's ta-ta and good night from me, Arya Sekhar Chakraborty and my co-commentators Nikhil Kulkarni and Arjun Bhalla.
Moeen Ali, Man of the Match- No. 3 currently is the No. 1 player in the world [at England], my job is to score as many runs here. It's just the way I play. I don't try and overhit the ball. It was nice, it wasn't an easy wicket. It was quite difficult initially. The three wickets - it depends on when you come on to bowl. It was a fantastic time for me to come on to bowl, there were two left-handers. I have a rough idea, one the left-hander came in, I thought I'd be bowling. I'm always ready. The ball changed and that was a bit drier, that helped. I think it was a good wicket to bowl for both teams.
Moeen Ali is the Man of the Match. Gets a trophy and a cheque of Rs 1 lakh.
MS Dhoni: I always look at what's the best to do at any point of time. When you keep doing it, they're always under the pump [the same bowlers in the powerplay]. Deepak there was a bit of miscalculation with the knuckle delivery. So I felt a good start was important. Even the wet ball was spinning. I don't really mind Jos playing reverse sweep. If the wet ball was turning then the chance of the dry ball turning is high. It was good to have Moeen, it was turning a bit. The wicket became a bit more sticky. Glad we scored 180, I thought we could have got more. The first six balls I played could have cost us in another game. A lot has changed. The way we have prepared, the way we have turned down. The bowlers have been under the pump last year also, so they're used t the conditions. Getting old and being fit - those are two difficult things! When you're playing you don't want anyone to call you unfit. I have to keep up with youngers guys, they run a lot, but it's always challenging.
Time for MS Dhoni to have a chat with Harsha Bhogle.
Moeen Ali is the Upstox Most Valuable Asset of the Match. Bags a trophy and a cheque of Rs 1 lakh.
Sam Curran is the Cred Powerplayer of the Match. Bagged 2/12 in his 3 overs spell in the powerplay. Nothing more MS Dhoni could have asked for.
Ambati Rayudu bags the Unacademy Let's Crack it Sixes Award. Gets a trophy and a cheque of Rs 1 lakh.
Moeen Alis is the Dream11 Game Changer of the Match, bagged 130 fantasy points. Gets a trophy and cheque of Rs 1 lakh.
Faf du Plessis gets the Safari Super Striker of the Match Award. Bags a trophy and cheque of Rs 1 lakh.
Ravindra Jadeja gets the Vivo Perfect Catch of the Match. Bags a Vivo phone and a cheque of Rs. 1 lakh.
Its time for the Post-Match Presentation ceremony with Harsha Bhogle.
Sam Curran: We started off badly against Delhi, we didn't adjust to the conditions. But the last two games we've adjusted. The way we've played with our long batting line-up, it's given that freedom. I've actually never played for Chennai in Chennai, but from the chat in the group the wicket's been slow and suited us. Our whole middle order can bat anywhere, that gives you some freedom.
Sanju Samson, Rajasthan Royals skipper: I think it was a good score to chase down, but we lost too many wickets in the middle. I think our bowlers bowled really well but they batted very deep. Maybe 10-15 runs extra conceded in the end. We never expected that [the spinners]. The dew didn't come, the ball was turning and that was a bit shocking to see. I think it's very important to maintain a good composure throughout the tournament. This format demands scoring runs at a high risk rate. Sakariya has been doing really well. We've lost but definitely there are positives.
Arya: Earlier in the day it was Sanju Samson who won the toss and without any hesitations opted to field first. Chennai Super Kings began well courtesy a breezy knock from Faf du Plessis. Ruturaj Gaikwad who impressed all and sundry during the final phases of IPL last year kept searching for runs and was dismissed quite cheaply. Du Plessis raced his way through to a knock of 33 of 17 deliveries which included 4 fours and 2 sixes. Wickets fell here and there but the run-rate never really got down. However, there was a mini-collapse where it seemed that CSK won't get to a competitive score at Wankhede. However, Sam Curran had Dwayne Bravo blazed their way to quickfire knocks and that proved to be a big difference. In the end a score of 188 proved to be way too much.
Arya: MSD didn't took any time to introduce Moeen Ali into the attack and he was right into the game with the dismissal of David Miller. He followed it up with the wickets of Riyan Parag and Chris Morris as both went for the big shots. With 7 down the match was gone for all money. Tewatia struck a few lusty blows as the Royals eventually fell short by 46 runs.
Arya: Jos Buttler looked in fine touch and looked the dangerman in the middle. Yet again Sanju Samson had to depart for a low score and the inconsistency remains a huge concern for the RR skipper. Buttler played some delightful shots and raced his way to 49 before a peach of a delivery from Ravindra Jadeja had him castled. He had no idea about the delivery and completely played the wrong line. It turned sharply from back of a length and especially with a dry ball it was coming out perfectly from Jadeja's fingers.
Arya: Sanju Samson would have been the happier man halfway through as we have seen targets close to 200 or even over 200 getting chased down at Wankhede with utmost ease. A target of 189 should have augured well for Rajasthan but they really messed up their middle overs and never gave themselves the opportunity to claw their way back. Manan Vohra and Jos Buttler began with some exceptional shots but the sharp piece of captaincy by MS Dhoni had him caught at deep midwicket.
Arya: A convincing victory for the Chennai Super Kings. It proved to be a thoroughly professional performance from the CSK spinners which eventually yields the yellow brigade a 46 runs victory. You won't see a side batting first at Wankhede winning by this big margins but today the pitch assisted the spinners especially in the second innings and the Rajasthan Royals batsmen had no answer what so over.
