Should the Old Trafford track assist the spinners, similar to what we saw this past Sunday, then this could well turn out to be a battle of the spinners between the two teams. The Originals have the momentum and are certainly the heavy favourites heading into this clash. But can the Superchargers cause an upset? We’ll see that in a couple of hours from now on. So, stay tuned, we’ll be back for the toss update in a while.
The Superchargers on the other hand have not had the best of campaigns, losing back-to-back matches and stuttering at the second last position in the points table. They slumped to a defeat against Welsh Fire in their opener, before going down against Trent Rockets in a relatively close fought contest. Nothing’s going right for the team representing Yorkshire County, as their regular skipper Ben Stokes has flown away for national duties and will join the England camp for their upcoming Test series against India. South Africa’s Faf du Plessis remains sidelined due to concussion symptoms and they certainly need to strengthen their batting order in the absence of their talismanic all-rounder, Benjamin Stokes.
The Originals roared back strongly after their defeat in the opening game against the Invincibles. They brushed aside Birmingham Phoenix rather dominatingly as they bowled their opponent out for a paltry 87, before chasing it down with 6 wickets in hand. On a spin friendly track, Matt Parkinson weaved his magic and scalped 4/9 on his home track to rattle the Phoenix. However, Originals have been dealt a big blow as their skipper Jos Butler has departed for England duty and won’t feature in the tournament anymore. Fellow opener Phil Salt is expected to take up the wicket-keeping duties in his absence. Even without Butler, Originals still boast a power-packed batting lineup that should be more than enough to dismantle the Superchargers on a gloomy day in Manchester.
Hello and a warm welcome to OneCricket’s coverage of the 9th match in the Men’s Hundred competition between two evenly matched teams, as the Manchester Originals face off against the Northern Superchargers at Old Trafford, and this surely promises to be a nail-biter. I, Kingshuk Kusari, alongside my co-commentator, AryaSekhar Chakraborty will walk you through the live updates of this fascinating contest.
Manchester Originals and Northern Superchargers will cross swords in the 9th match of The Hundred Men's competition at the iconic Old Trafford. The Originals came back ruthlessly after their defeat in their opening game against the Invincibles and registered a resounding six wickets victory against the Phoenix. Northern Superchargers threw away victory in dramatic fashion last time out away to Trent Rockets, losing by two wickets after opener Alex Hales led them to an impressive victory. After losing Ben Stokes, can the Supercharges make a surprising comeback? Join us for another league match of The Hundred at 11 PM(IST).
