Thanks for tuning in and apologies for the harsh weather. We will be taking off now, but brb for the second men's game of the day, which is between Manchester Originals and Birmingham Phoenix at 10:30 pm IST. Till then, enjoy our live coverage of India vs Sri Lanka. This was me, Arjun Bhalla signing off on the behalf of my partner - Kingshuk Kusari.
Update | 8:25 pm IST: Bad news, fellas. The Final Verdict is here - Match abandoned! It's still raining, here at Lord's, the match has been called off without a ball bowled.
Arjun | 8:20 pm IST: No change in scene at Lord's. The covers are still on. The drainage pipe is still pouring water out. The players are sipping coffee, standing at the gallery. The pictures aren't at all promising. Be with us for the update as it comes.
Arjun | 7:35 pm IST: The rain has no mood to stop. The covers are groundsmen are still on duty. Hang in with me for lively updates. Btw, Prithvi Shaw and Varun Chakravarthy will be making their T20I debuts tonight. Hop on to the other tab for the action.
7:05 pm IST - Sadly the rain has delayed the start of play here. The cut-off time for a 25-ball game is around 9:15 PM IST. But don't you worry, we have a lot of action lined up. Currently, Bangladesh is taking on Zimbabwe in the decider, and later India and Sri Lanka will begin their battle. You can also keep a tab on the women's Hundred game between - Phoenix and Originals, where India's Shafali Verma has already started her act.
Arjun: There is still a lot of time for the action to happen. So sit tight and we will bring you an update as soon as it comes.
Weather update | 6:50 pm IST - Dang!! It is drizzling and the covers are covering on. Looks like we'll have a bit halt. And it is getting heavier and heavier... The pictures coming in from London don't look promising.
Oval Invincibles (Playing XI): Jason Roy, Will Jacks, Sam Curran, Colin Ingram, Sam Billings(w/c), Laurie Evans, Sunil Narine, Tom Curran, Nathan Sowter, Reece Topley, Jordan Clark.
London Spirit (Playing XI): Zak Crawley, Josh Inglis(w), Daniel Lawrence, Eoin Morgan(c), Joe Denly, Ravi Bopara, Mohammad Nabi, Roelof van der Merwe, Blake Cullen, Chris Wood, Mohammad Amir.
Toss Update: London Spirit have won the toss and opted to Bowl first.
Arjun: Hang in with us, we will be back with toss updates.
Arjun: On the other hand, we have Sam Billings’ Invincibles, who kickstarted this league with a victory over Manchester Originals. The visiting neighbors would be willing to make it two in two. To seize it, they have gun players like skipper Sam Billings, spin maestro Sunil Narine, Jason Roy and the Curran brothers. However, the batting wasn’t much impressive the other night, where a captain’s knock took them to a commendable total, but Invincibles are all about bowling.
Arjun: The home team didn’t have the greatest of starts to their campaign as they lost their opening encounter to Birmingham Phoenix when Chris Benjamin took the game from the palms of the English captain Morgan and his main men in Pakistan’s Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Nabi, and the T20 agent Ravi Bopara. London was Spirited by Zak Crawley’s impeccable 64, a couple of moons earlier. The bowling didn’t start well but came back in the middle phase until Benjamin finished it off. Morgan’s geniuses would now be hoping to finish on the other side of the line.
Arjun: This is a London derby clash as Eoin Morgan’s Spirit has invited the side from the Oval at the iconic Lord’s cricket ground. Imagine the home of cricket will be hosting its newest format. Already feeling the goosebumps, right? Yes, that’s the magic of The Hundred.
Hello and a warm welcome for the live coverage of the first men’s match of The Hundred, which is between London Spirit and Oval Invincibles. I Arjun Bhalla with my fellow commentator Kingshuk Kusari will walk you through the coverage of the match ball by ball.
With teams still getting to grips with the new format, the players, as well as the fans, are learning things about The Hundred all the time, we move onto the 5th match of the group stage between, London Spirits and Oval Invincibles. The Invincibles came up trumps in the inaugural game of The Hundred men's competition when skipper Billings led his side to a victory against the Originals. On the other hand, the London Spirit came up short in their first encounter but having the support of the home crowd in this game will be relishing for them. English white-ball skipper, Eoin Morgan is regularly praised for his tactics on the international stage but the real question is can he do it in this new avatar of cricket. Join us for the live ball-to-ball coverage of this thriller tomorrow at 7 PM(IST).
