That's all from the commentary box. What a fascinating win for the visitors. Like always it was a pleasure for all of us to bring the live commentary and updates for the match. Join us for the 5th Test starting in Manchester from 10th September. Till then, it's ta-ta and goodnight from me, Arya Sekhar Chakraborty (the last two sessions) and my fellow commentators Akshay Bhide, Anurag Dasgupta and Kingshuk Kusari (first session).
Arya: With the pitch not doing enough for the fast bowlers, it was one of the greatest ever spells in a benign pitch from Jasprit Bumrah which put India in the driver's seat. After castling Ollie Pope with a perfect inswinger, he bowled Bairstow with an unplayable yorker. Jadeja then dismissed Moeen Ali in the next over to put India in a commanding position. Just when it looked like skipper Joe Root and Chris Woakes will go to tea without any further loss, it was the introduction of Shardul Thakur that brought about the downfall of Joe Root on a shot that he has played all summer. Trying to dab a harmless back of a length delivery outside off down the third man region, Root ended up chopping that onto his stumps. Woakes was dismissed at the stroke of tea that made sure India just needed to finish off the formalities in the final session. It was Umesh Yadav who bagged the last two wickets of Overton and James Anderson to seal the deal for the visiting team.
Arya: Coming back to the match, it was Ravindra Jadeja who started to unsettle the nerves of Haseeb Hameed and Dawid Malan. Hameed survived an easy chance as Mohammed Siraj left a sitter at mid-on. Malan who looked good while facing Jadeja survived a close shave but was run out soon after. It was the post-lunch session which totally put India in a winning position. In an attempt to give Joe Root the strike who started off in his usual demeanour, Hameed played one against the turn and the ball turned sharply past the batsman to flick the off stump. In hindsight, it was perhaps England's willingness to go after the target which brought about his downfall. With Jadeja bowling in the rough, Hameed could have easily padded that away.
Rohit Sharma-  I wanted to be on the field but getting that hundred was special, 100 behind we knew how important it was to give them a target of 370-odd. A great effort from the batting unit. It's my first overseas hundred, so obviously my best one. The three-figure mark wasn't in my mind, we knew the pressure on the batting unit, but kept our heads down and batted the situation.

"Not been preying on my mind, just try to get the team into a good position. With 30, or 80, or 150-plus. I used to bat middle-order, but I know the importance of opening. Once you're in you've got to make it count.

It's important to embrace the challenge, back in Durham we had time off to look at our training and technique, after WTC we had 20-25 days and that was a game-changer. Batted well as we've been challenged, especially at Leeds, but that can happen. The message from the physio (regarding the hamstring injury) is 'assess every minute, don't look too far ahead'."`
Rohit Sharma is the Player of the Match for his sensational second innings knock of 127.
Virat Kohli, Indian skipper- The character that the side has shown, to come back from 100 run deficit showed that we were not down and out. I said at Lord's as well, I am proud of the character, among the top three bowling performances I have witnessed as India captain. It's relative what you call flat, field wasn't wet like the first three days, ball got scuffed up nicely, one side heavier, and exploited reverse swing perfectly. We believed as a team that we could get all ten wickets.

27 runs off 22 overs on this kind of pitch, a huge effort from Jasprit Bumrah. When it started reversing he just said give me the ball. Rohit's innings was outstanding, but the impact performance from the lower-middle order, Shardul's fifty was the difference, and a counterattack in the second innings. Looking to restrict us but he was outstanding. We never got towards statistics, we know what we focus on, we take a call on what feels best and we believe we can win Tests with it. Whatever the noise on the outset, it doesn't bother us.

"Unfortunate they (three of the support staff) aren't here but they just called us. it's a real momentum boost. We are looking forward to opportunities to step on the field for India. And the fans have been outstanding too."

Joe Root, England skipper- Frustrating not to get something from the game today, we felt we had an opportunity to win, but credit to India, they got the ball to reverse and that was the turning point. Could have made more of a first-innings lead, and you have to make chances count against world-class players.

Got to find ways to get better but be realistic and realise that was world-class bowling. It might reverse, we'll have to manage it better. Whenever you lose the game you can look at the toss, but we've got to be more ruthless, and make that a 200-run lead. Got to be clinical, not be comfy, make big partnerships. We have played good cricket and important to remember that."
Presentation ceremony on the way.
Arya: With the pitch having nothing for the fast bowlers, it needed something special from the Indian bowlers to produce a result in their favour. The English overnight openers Haseeb Hameed and Rory Burns started off proceedings and got some boundaries early on. It was the introduction of Shardul Thakur which provided India with their maiden breakthrough. It was a brilliant delivery which shaped away just a tad to take a faint outside edge which was safely taken by Pant.
Arya: A memorable win for India. What a comeback this has been. Bouncing back strongly from the innings defeat at Leeds. 157 runs win and India takes a 2-1 lead with a match to go. With the final Test slated to start on 10th September in Manchester, India will take all the momentum into the final Test hoping to make it 3-1.
Alright then, beaten outside off and Anderson immediately goes for a review. India are celebrating here. They feel the match is done and dusted. Anderson feels the other way. And yes, there's a clear spike as the ball fizzes past Anderson's blade. There it is, India are victorious.
92.2 U Yadav to J Anderson
W A loud shout and the finger is raised. Celebration begin in the Indian camp but Anderson reviews it immediately. Banged in short around off, Anderson tries to defend it by shuffling across but gets a faint edge through to Pant behind the stumps. The umpire has no hesitation in raising his finger.
92.1 U Yadav to J Anderson
0 Shorter in length on the stumps, Anderson hops and drops it wide of short leg fielder.
