So that's all from the commentary box today. Do join us for the next match of PSL which starts at 7:30 pm. This is me, Arya Sekhar Chakraborty signing off on the behalf of my co-commentators Anurag Singh and Anurag Dasgupta.
Shoaib Malik, Peshawar Zalmi captain: "Especially after taking three early wickets, once you give away easy singles and the batsmen gets set, these are batting-friendly pitches... we had to get more wickets. That's where these kinds of matches get lost. Of course, that was a very crucial catch [Nabi dropped on 20]. We should have gotten that catch but that happens in games. Most importantly, bowling and batting you need a bit of luck. In fielding, hard work pays off and fielding we can improve. In high scoring games, whoever fields well has an edge in close games."
Mohammad NabI, Player of the Match: "It was a really good partnership. The pitches are really good for batting and that's why me and Babar are talking at the crease that it's easy to chase if we need to bat to the end. Depending on the situation, if it's early and we need power-hitting, then I'll power hit. But if we need to rotate the strike, then I'll rotate the strike."
Imad Wasim, Karachi Kings Captain: "The way Babar Azam and Mohammad Nabi played was fantastic to see. You just need to be patient on this surface and if you settle in, you can score a lot of runs. The emerging players are top bowlers. They've got enough variations. The guy who played for Pakistan Under-19 gave us a good start. At the end how Babar finished the game was heartening to see. On these wickets, you have to give something to the bowlers. These are so flat wickets. Today there wasn't any reverse swing as well. Sometimes you have to give credit to the batsmen. But we are on the winning side so we are very happy."
Arya: During the run chase it was three quick wickets that pegged back Karachi Kings. It looked finally like the trend of teams chasing total down will come to an end. However, it was the partnership of Babar Azam and Mohammad Nabi which turned the game on its head. Nabi in particular looked in a murderous mood and belted boundaries after boundaries which kept the required run-rate under chase. Nabi was dismissed with the game almost done and dusted and eventually they chased the target with three deliveries to spare. Babar Azam was the top scorer for Karachi Kings who remained unbeaten on 77 of 47 deliveries while Nabi scored a quickfire 67 of 35 deliveries.
Arya: 13th match and all 13 teams chasing have gone onto win and it is no different today. Peshawar Zalmni posted 188 at the end of their allotted 20 overs after being reduced to 34/3. It was a sensational piece of bowling upfront with Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Ilyas and Abbas Afridi. The impetus was provided by Ravi Bopara and Sherfane Rutherford as the duo shared a 82 runs stand which took them past the 150 mark. It was a 7 balls 27 late blitz by Amad Butt which totally changed the complexion of the game and took them to a score of 188.
Arya: That's the end of the 13th encounter of the Pakistan Super League and yet again the team chasing comes out triumphant despite a shoddy start. Chasing a target of 189, Karachi Kings were in trouble in the first half of the chase but it was a brilliant partnership between Babar Azam and Mohammad Nabi that helped them claw their way back into the match and in the end they romped home by six wickets and with three deliveries to spare.
19.3 Umaid Asif to Daniel Christian
4 Four! That's it, the match is over and Karachi have done it! Slower delivery on the pads, Christian flicks that on the leg side on what should be a single but the fielder at deep square does not collect the ball properly and the ball goes through his legs. Game is done and dusted.
19.2 Umaid Asif to Babar Azam
1 Short delivery and Babar works the ball to fine leg region for a single.
19.1 Umaid Asif to Babar Azam
0 Slower delivery on the off stump, Babar drives that straight to covers. No run.
