So that all from the commentary box today. Till the next time, its adieus from me, Arya Sekhar Chakraborty and my fellow mates Kingshuk Kusari and Akshay Bhide.
Liam Livingstone, Player of the Match: We have played a lot of good cricket this year. We felt we have deserved a spot in the final. It is the way around the world at the moment. I have been working hard but haven't had the best of tournament, so nice to get some runs under the belt and now looking forward to the final. There will be a bit of spice (against the Sixers) especially after what happened in the Qualifier. It will be good to play in front of a full crowd again. Hopefully we can bring it home on Saturday.
Arya: Earlier in the day it was a display of stupendous batsmanship from the likes of Liam Livingstone, Cameron Bancroft and Mitchell Marsh. When rains came pelting down, the Scorchers were 189/1 in 18.1 overs and it was quite exceptional from all the three batsmen who were out there in the middle. Barring two good overs upfront, none of the Heat bowlers' managed to restrict the run flow especially of Livingstone's bat as he looked in a murderous mood. He kept plundering the bowlers all around the park during his knock of 77 of 39 deliveries which were studded with 5 fours and 6 sixes. Bancroft played the anchor's role to perfection and after the dismissal of Livingstone, Mitchell Marsh took the onus on himself to get going. Eventually, he remained unbeaten on 49 while Bancroft chipped in with 58 of 42 deliveries.
Arya: Marnus Labuschagne struck a few impressive shots while Jimmy Pierson also smashed a few boundaries here and there but there were playing catch up all through the innings especially after the loss of Denly and Lynn. Joe Burns came out in the middle and ended as the top scorer for the Brisbane Heat. His knock of 38 of 24 deliveries was nowhere close to the required rate and it was a mountain way steep to climb for them. Bartlett also smashed a few lusty blows towards the end but that was all for a losing cause. In the end, it was a comprehensive victory for the Brisbane Heat by 49 runs and they qualify for the final.
Arya: So that's the end of the Challenger and it was Perth Scorchers who literally blew away the Brisbane Heat registering a 49 runs victory under the D/L method. Chasing a target of 200 in just 18 overs was always going to be a tough proposition for the Heat but a good start was provided by Chris Lynn and Joe Denly as they raced off to 32 runs stand in the first 3 overs. Lynn was looking in stupendous touch and it looked that the Heat was well and truly up for the challenge. However it was Jason Beherendorff's back to back wickets of Joe Denly and Lynn which totally put Brisbane on the backfoot and from there on it kept going downhill for them.
