So thats all from the commentary box folks, This is me, Arya Sekhar Chakraborty signing off on the behalf of my fellow commentators Akshay Bhide and Kingshuk Kusari. Till the next time, tata and follow us for the remainder of the games today which includes the Abu Dhabi T10 League and the 2nd semi-final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy
Arya: Earlier in the day it was the Adelaide Strikers skipper Alex Carey who won the toss and opted to bat. It was a dodgy start for the Strikers as they were unable to find the gaps in the opening overs. Carey finally perished while attempting a big stroke after playing and missing quite a few. The run rate was never threatening the Heat's bowlers and the pressure started to show on the Strikers. They kept losing wickets after wickets and never really got the momentum needed to push for a big score. Some useful contributions from Jonathan Wells and Philip Salt took them to some respectability as they ended up scoring 130 in their allotted 20 overs. Leggies Marnus Labuschagne bagged 3 crucial wickets and yet again showed why he is just not a part-time spinner and should invest in his bowling a bit more. Mitchell Swepson also bagged a couple which never really allowed the Strikers' batters to press on the accelerator. The target of 130 never looked enough and it was proven so by the end of the game. So now, the Brisbane Heat will face the Sydney Thunder on 31st Decembers
Arya: Chasing a relatively meagre target of 131, the onus was on the Adelaide Strikers bowlers to get them back into the match and they did exactly that with 3 quick wickets in a relatively short time which helped them storm their way back into the game. Michael Nesser was quite sensational in his opening over and dismissed Chris Lynn with a pearler which shaped away just after pitching on middle. Two more important wickets fell in crucial junctures which also included the one of Marnus Labuschagne and it was difficult times for the Heat. They needed a proper partnership from there on which was provided by Joe Denly and Jimmy Pierson. A partnership of 69 runs not only steadied the sinking ship but also put them in command. When Denly was dismissed the equation wasn't that huge but with strange things happening in cricket especially in the recent past, the Brisbane Heat also needed to hold their nerves, and eventually, they chased down the target by 6 wickets and with 7 deliveries to spare. Joe Burns also played a sensible knock and remained unbeaten on 17 of 17 deliveries.
Arya: This proved to be a relatively easy run chase for the Brisbane Heat as they romped home by 6 wickets to keep their hope alive in the tournament. On the back of a good all round showing from, they chased the target down with 7 deliveries to spare.
