So that's it for the doubleheader today, myself, 'Arijit Kundu', signing off with, and on behalf of my co-commentators 'Arya Sekhar Chakraborty' and 'Kingshuk Kusari'. We'll be back soon tomorrow with live coverage of another doubleheader, until then, goodbye to all.
Arijit: Alex Hales has been named as the man of the match of the game for his blistering innings of 110 of 56 deliveries.
Moises Henriques and Jordan Silk tried to play some sensible game and added 90 runs on the trot. Soon. Henriques tries to fancy around the crease and caught himself gloved to the wicketkeeper and fled for 56 (35). The required run was getting higher and went above 20. And soon, a few more wickets turned the tables completely in favour of the Thunders as they pulled away a scintillating victory over the Sydney Sixers by 48 runs on match 48 of BBL season 10.
Early in the afternoon, the Sixers had won the bat flip and opted to field first. Thunder suffered an early blow when southpaw, Usman Khawaja had to walk back after being caught at third man. But this didn't hamper the start of Thunder as Alex Hales and skipper Callum Ferguson jolted a 69 runs partnership before the latter found himself in trouble for 42 (23). Quickfire cameo's from Sam Billings and Ben Cutting helped Alex Hales to hammer the bowlers from one end and keep the sixers under pressure. The Sixer's bowlers neither got added assistance from the pitch nor they could use their acquired skills to resist Hales from getting his second century of the ongoing season. Hales went onto make 110 of just 56 deliveries with 9 sixes and 8 boundaries to his name. In the end, Thunders finished at a colossal 232-5 after 20 overs. Coming to chase, the Sixers got off to a good start with 40 runs after the powerplay. But soon the inform Josh Phillipe found himself in despair when he was caught short of the crease in the first over of the 19-year old Tanveer Sangha. Following this, wickets kept on tumbling in successive overs and the Sixers were put to 62-3 after 6.1 overs.
Arijit: And that's a wrap from the Adelaide Oval, The Thunders get a confidence boost after a commandable victory in the Sydney Derby. They have emerged victorious by a margin of 46 runs against the arch-rivals Sydney Sixers. This gain takes them to 3rd position in the points table behind the Scorchers who have a lump sum of 28 points in their pockets. The Thunders showed excellency in all three spheres (batting, bowling, and fielding.) to find an edge over the defending champions today.
