So that's it from us for this game. I'm Akshay Bhide, along with my colleagues AryaSekhar Chakraborty and Vikhyat Jain signing off for now. Head over to the second game of the double header. It's the Sydney Derby at the Adelaide Oval. Bye Bye.
Akshay: With this win, Scorchers jump to the second spot and Hurricanes remain at the 6th spot.
Jhye Richardson is the Man of the Match for his bowling figures of 4-0-33-4 and a quickfire cameo of 29 from 14 with the bat.
Akshay: Earlier in the day, Turner won the toss and opted to Bat first. The openers in Roy and Livingstone started brilliantly but Roy departed in the 3rd over. Livingstone took on Lamichchane but departed in the same over trying to accelerate. They suffered a mini collapse as they were reeling at 66 for 4 at the end of 8 overs. Inglis and Turner put a good partnership but the latter got out in the 14th over and none of the batsmen supported Inglis. He was the lone fighter for the Scorchers as he brought up his fifty. Jhye Richardson was sensational for his cameo of 29 which powered the Scorchers to 179. Nathan Ellis was the pick of the bowlers for the Hurricanes as he picked up 4 wickets.
Akshay: The Hurricanes started the chase on a worst note as Wade departed in the first over. His struggles with the bat continued. In form Ben McDermott and Dawid Malan too departed for low scores. D’Arcy Short along with Handscomb started the re-building phase as Handscomb came with intent. He scored a quickfire 30 until he was cleaned up by Richardson. Short departed on 43 in the 13th over and it was too much to do for the lower order. Tim David tried his level best but just couldn’t take his team across the line. Eventually they fell short by runs. Jhye Richardson was exceptional with the ball picking 4 wickets. Behrendorff too chipped in with 2 wickets.
Akshay: A comprehensive performance by the Scorchers as they beat Hurricanes by 22 runs. Nobody would have thought about this result after they were reduced to 66 for 4 in the first innings. But the lower order for them stepped up and the bowlers were sensational for them as they restricted the Hurricanes 157.

4 FOUR!!! nothing delivery to end the innings from Hardie, full toss on the pads, Boland glances it to the deep fine leg region for a boundary. With this, the Scorchers win the match convincingly.

18.6 Jhye Richardson to Riley Meredith
1 Into the blockhole, Riley flicks it nicely to the deep square leg area for a single.
The third umpire is checking for a potential waist high no ball. He is happy with it and David has to depart.
18.5 Jhye Richardson to Tim David
W WICKET!!! big full toss, David gets high on the bat and lofts in straight in the air, I guess its all over for the Hurricanes as the last batsman takes a long walk back to the pavilion
