Sourya: So that's it for our coverage of this BBL game, I, Sourya Chowdhury, bid adieu to all of you on behalf of my co-commentators Arjun Bhalla and Nikhil Kulkarni. See you soon.
Sourya: Englishman Jason Roy, who blazed his team to victory, was declared the man of the match. This is what he had to say: "We've worked hard since we've been here. A couple of times we've been unlucky. We didn't want to use the Power Surge in case we lost quick wickets and didn't want to create a panic. We've worked hard in the change rooms and are getting our rewards now. It's a long tournament. We've got five good games under our belt and hopefully are peaking at the right time."
Sourya: The victory was set up by a great bowling performance from Jhye Richardson, Jason Behrendorff and co. who really squeezed the Hurricanes and dealt them severe blows at the start; blows that they never really recovered from despite D'Arcy Short's fifty. They have now lost three in a row and are now fifth on the table.
Sourya: Set a meagre target of 140 by the Hurricanes, the resurgent Scorchers made short work of the chase, reaching it in 16.2 overs to claim their fifth win on the trot and have now moved up to third on the table. Only Scott Boland had some success with the ball for the Hobart-based outfit and everyone else faced the music from the openers, who hit gorgeous pulls and lifted the ball straight up on both sides of the pitch, over the bowler as well as the keeper.
Sourya: The Scorchers have cruised to victory at home against the Hurricanes by 9 wickets thanks to a formidable opening stand between Liam Livingstone (54 off 39) and Jason Roy ( 74 not out of 52), who took a little time to settle down but then took almost all the bowlers to the cleaners in a dominating display of T20 batting.
16.2 Riley Meredith to Jason Roy
2 IN THE AIR and the ball falls a tad short of Sandeep Lamichanne, a brace to Roy and the matches go to the Scorchers who remain unbeaten at the Optus. A short ball takes Roy by surprise as he top edges one to Lamichhane at fine leg. Roy finishes the chase as he scored 74 not out and his highest score in the championship
16.1 Riley Meredith to Jason Roy
4 Back of length ball outside off JASON ROY pulls it hard and the ball races away to deep mid wicket for four runs
