Arjun: So that's all from the commentary box today folks. Do join us for tomorrow in the first clash of the new year between the Melbourne Renegades and the Sydney Thunder. So till then, tata and a Happy New Year folks. This was me, Arjun Bhalla with my fellow commentators Akshay Bhide and Kingshuk Kusari.
Jhye Richardson: Definitely (happy with the win), more importantly for us to get on the board, hopefully, we can get a little bit of momentum going on. We owe it to our fans. To come back and put a performance on the board like we did tonight is definitely a positive moving forward. (On Aaron Hardie) Absolutely brilliant. He's the one to watch out for, he's had a fantastic pre-season, he started well in Shield season as well, he's improving every game and we love to see that. Roy at the top, showing intent, but then we speak about partnerships through the middle, Mitch and Inglis did a fantastic job for us to get over the line.
Jhye Richardson wins the Player of the Match for his 3-19 in four runs.
Arjun: Then came, the duo of Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis to the middle. The duo first calmed things for the team and then started to score. As the total was always in reach, the batters didn't take any needed risk. Inglis scored an unbeaten 44 off 31 balls while his senior assisted him well with his 38 off 24 to clinch the first win for Scorchers.
Arjun: Wes Agar in his second over of the game turned the game completely. Till the seventh over, the Scorchers were cruising towards the win, they were at 57 for zero but Agar grabbed two wickets in the over and brought his side back into the game. Rashid Khan backed his teammate by taking another wicket and the batting were down to 80 for the loss of three wickets.
Arjun: The Perth bowlers resisted the Strikers at a reasonably low score and then chased the 147 runs with some ease. The openers put up a strong stand at top of the order with Jason Roy smacking quick runs around the park but then the bowling side took three wickets in a span of 13 runs to come back in the game.
Arjun: Perth Scorchers wins the clash against the Strikers by 7 wickets with 14 balls remaining. In the end, it was an easy win for the Perth side who have finally clinched their maiden win for the season.
