That's all from us for the first game. Do tune in to the next game where Sunrisers Hyderabad lock horns against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Sharjah. It was pleasure to bring you updates from this game. On behalf of me, Akshay Bhide and my co-commentator Karthik Raj we take your leave. Bye bye!
MI continue to be clinical in this tournament and book their place in Qualifier 1. DC on the other hand had a chance to book their spot in the playoffs today but did a total mess of it. They lose by a big margin such that their net run rate falls below KXIP. So if KXIP win their next fixture, we will see them replace DC in top 3.
Ishan Kishan | Man of the Match: It was not as easy as it looked. The ball wasn't coming on so I had to keep rotating the strike and then take them apart later. It all depends on the practice sessions, and how you train I wanted to keep my shape and hit sixes. My mom must get the credit for the food she gives me, that makes me so powerful, and sometimes even I'm surprised how my sixes carry such a long way. My coaches told me that playing shots on the off-side is important, and that wasn't my strength initially, and I knew, even Rahul sir told me that I need to work on my off-side shots. I enjoy batting everywhere, wherever the management wants me to bat. At this level you have to be able to adapt.
Ishan Kishan is awarded the Man of the Match award for his match winning knock of 72* of 47 balls comprising of 8 fours and 3 maximums.
Kieron Pollard | MI (winning) captain: It's 16 off 17. Bumrah with the new ball, I kept delaying him, and in this kind of track it was more useful to bowl him in the middle. He kept looking at me, and wanted to bowl in the powerplay. We wanted to bowl spinners in the powerplay with some grip on offer. Ishan has gotten better in every game, and once he gets going, he's hard to get rid of. He didn't even start, Ishan, in the playing XI, came to No. 4 and then came out to open and just blew us away. Rohit is getting better and hopefully he'll be back soon. We need to play another couple of good games and get to the finally. This isn't supposed to be our year (even number), but it's been working for us so far.
Shreyas Iyer | DC (losing) captain: Obviously, we fell short of reading the wicket. We weren't upto the mark right from the start and those wickets in the Powerplay took down the momentum from us. It was important for a few us to come and build a few partnerships but it happened in bits and pieces. There are lots of flaws to be pointed out to, but we gotta believe in ourselves and be strong-headed, also be positive. You can't anticipate how it's (the pitch) going to play right from the start. Openers being there, it was important to get a good start, once you get the momentum, you can build on later. I feel 150 or 160 was a good total on such wickets. We'll have to think about it (changes to the line-up) and be fearless in our approach. We'll keep things simple and will not try to think much. It's going to be do or die for both teams (about the next game) depending on how RCB play tonight.
Let's see what the skipper have to say
Earlier in the day, Pollard won the toss and elected to bowl first. The DC didn't had the best of the starts as Dhawan departed for a duck in the first over to Boult. Shaw threw his wicket playing a pull shot and they found themselves in a spot of bother. Iyer and Pant didn't get going and finally Iyer was stumped to Chahar. Bumrah was brought into the attack and his masterclass proved to be vital for MI. He took the wicket of Stoinis and Pant in a single over to put DC on the backfoot. The responsibility to carry on DC's innings rested on Hetmyer's shoulders but he was dismissed in the 16th over and they crumbled in the end. Bumrah and Boult finished with 3 wickets each which broke the back of the DC batting line up. They managed to put 110 on the board which proved to be too small in front of MI's batting line up
The chase of 111 never looked big with the openers in Ishan Kishan and de Kock getting off to a flyer. Both of them found regular boundaries and Shreyas Iyer had no asnwers to them. Ishan Kishan was the aggressor of the two with de Kock playing the role of second fiddle to perfection. Kishan belted DC bowlers all along the ground and continued his rich form in this year's IPL. de Kock was dismissed by his countryman Norjte in 11th over but it was only matter of time until MI eased past this total. Kishan brought up his half century in just 37 balls and just went all guns blazing. He remained unbeaten on 72 and saw his team home with SuryaKumar at the other end remaining not out on 12.
MI thump DC by 9 wickets in the 15th over and confirm their spot in Top 2. DC on the other hand have lost 4 in a row and they are in a spot of bother. They need to win their remaining fixture to book their spot in playoffs.
14.2 Anrich Nortje to Ishan Kishan
6 That is it!!!!! Full on the stumps, Kishan bludgeons the ball over square-leg for a humongous six. With that, Mumbai seal a nine-wicket victory

0 Short of a length, Kishan looks to pull it but he doesn't get the connection. Dot ball
