So thats all from here folks. Just overjoyed with my team's performance. Like always it was a pleasure bringing the live commentary and match updates for you. Till the next time, adieus from me, Arya Sekhar Chakraborty and my co-commentator Karthik Raj. Good night folks and stay tuned for tomorrow's high octane clash between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Chennai Super Kings. It will be a big game for KKR. Till the next time, tata
So Mumbai Indians all but confirms a top-two finish. Theoretically not yet though but practically yes without an iota of doubt. They have already won 8 and even if they lose their last two matches, they will in all probabilities finish with a better net run rate than Royal Challengers Bangalore or Delhi Capitals. They are the only two teams who can finish with 9 wins but with a game to be played between them it won't be possible for both teams to finish with 9 wins and MI with a superior net run rate should prevail.
Suryakumar Yadav, Man of the Match: I was looking to finish the game. I was looking to learn what my game is. Happy to have finished it. Lot of meditation has helped. I have been spending a lot of time with myself. One over cover to Chahal and the back foot punch off Steyn were my favourites. I have worked on my game during the lockdown. I used to love playing on the on-side before. Pleased to have finished the game.
Kieron Pollard: I try to analyze. I got the wicket of ABD. We can't just depend on Bumrah. But we would want other guys to step up as it is a team game. We lost a few wickets but Surya took us home. Imagine, someone coming in at that number and batting at that strike rate despite a wicket going down. The most he can do is continue performing for us. As an individual if you continue to be consistent, the rewards will come. I have always done what the team wants me to do. If the team performs well, I am happy.
Devdutt Padikkal is the Cred Power Player of the Match.
Suryakumar Yadav bags the Unacademy Lets Crack it Sixes Award, one after the other for SKY
Suryakumar Yadav is also the Altroz Super Striker of the Match
Suryakumar Yadav is the Dream11 Game Changer of the Match
Trent Boult: Good win, nice to get across the line. We did well with the ball, got them down to an achievable score and then it was nicely followed up, obviously set-up by Surya. It was nice to get rid of AB and Virat, they were the big wickets that needed to be taken, that helped us in the end, made us feel less daunting. It was still a pretty good score, but I think we kept them down well. It's all to play for now, we're heading towards the exciting part of the tournament. The squad is feeling good, I'm feeling good, big games coming up, but that's why we're here
Virat Kohli | RCB (losing) captain: It was a strange phase of batting (the last five overs of the RCB innings). Everything went to the fielders and these kind of things happen. They bowled in good areas in the last 5 overs and stopped us 20 runs short. We were in the game until the 17th over and that was a decent effort by our bowlers. It's basically up to the gut of the captain and the conditions, we thought Dale and Morris for initial swing, and Washy in the powerplay. We needed a few wickets there, but their batsmen did a good job. This is always going to happen - some teams peak early and some do better later. As we can see, the teams in the lower half are turning out some really good performances now. When it's a top-two clash, it will always be intense and in a competition like the IPL, you can't expect any team to back down and be blown away.
Padikkal was the star for RCB as he made light work of the star-studded MI bowlers. He was severe against the spinners and he manoeuvred the field to perfection. RCB were looking well and set for a score well in excess of 180 until a sensational Jasprit Bumrah took three crucial wickets which included the prized wicket of Virat Kohli. It was the magic arm of Kieron Pollard who provided MI with the much-needed wicket of AB de Villiers. Wickets kept tumbling at regular junctures and RCB fell off the track. It was Gurkeerat Singh who struck two much-needed boundaries in the final over to propel RCB to a score over 160. In the end, the score of 164 didn't prove to be enough as MI stormed home by 6 wickets and with 5 deliveries to spare
Earlier the day it was the Mumbai Indians stand-in skipper Kieron Pollard who won the toss and opted to field. RCB included Joshua Philippe at the place of Aaron Finch at the top of the order and the youngster didn't disappoint. He looked in scintillating touch during his knock of 33 of 24 deliveries and shared a magnificent stand of 67 runs with Devdutt Padikkal.
Suryakumar Yadav played some delightful shots all through his innings and ensured MI reached the target with relative comfort in the end. He shared a brief stand with Krunal Pandya before securing the win with Hardik. His classy knock of 79 came in a mere 43 deliveries which were studded with 10 fours and 3 maximums. Hardik Pandya gave him good support down the order and in the end, it was a brilliant extra cover drive from the blade of Surya on the first delivery of the final over to get the match done and dusted. A thoroughly professional all-round performance from the most successful team of the tournament.
Chasing a target of 165, Mumbai Indians got off to a solid start courtesy a 37 runs stand between Quinton de Kock and Ishan Kishan. Both looked in good touch and played some crisp shots during their brief stay. However, MI lost two crucial wickets against the run of play which included the likes of Ishan Kishan and de Kock. Saurabh Tiwary couldn't contribute much either and it was left to the Pandya brother and Pollard along with Suryakumar Yadav to do the job for MI.
So its all over folks. What a masterclass it was from Surykaumar Yadav. Could there be a better response to the national selectors after getting omitted from the Australia tour. What an effort from the supremely talented batsman. Just the calm and composure and his gesture at the end of his knock that "Stay Calm Surya is here" sums up the day for Suryakumar Yadav and the Mumbai Indians. It was such a delight to watch him in full flow

4 Full toss on the stumps, Pollard flicks it to the right of the deep mid-wicket fielder for four runs. Big vacant gap there as the square-leg fielder is inside the ring. Just three runs to get off the final over
An animated send-off by Chris Morris. After hitting the six, Hardik was seen saying something to Morris and he comes back with a bang and has a thing or two to say to Hardik. 7 of 7, should be a cakewalk or is there still a twist in the tale ?
