It was all from our side. This was I, Arjun Bhalla with my friend Karthik Raj signed out on the account on OneCricket. It was fun presenting you with this game where the underdogs Sunrisers knocked down the heavyweights Delhi. See you all tomorrow in the clash of Mumbai and Bangalore. It is going to be huge as one of them will surely qualify for the playoffs. Till then, Goodnight!
Wriddhiman Saha: I got the opportunity for the second time this year and took my chances in the powerplay. Initially the ball was holding a bit but I took my chances and went after it after the pitch eased out. I'm happy I got selected for the Tests in Australia. We are looking forward to win the last two matches for the Sunrisers and that's our target now.
Wriddhiman Saha wins the Man of the Match Award for his knock of 87 runs of just 45 balls.
Delhi has lost the third man straight. They will be on thin ice in their next two games. They need to win a game or the Mighty Delhi Capitals would be out of the tournament. On the other hands, all the SRH players and the supporting staffs were all smiling after the game as they have gained momentum and could even make in to the top four for the knockouts.
David Warner | SRH (winning) captain: THe game before, we were disappointed with that chase. We defended last game, and with two world-class bowlers in Nortje and Rabada we decided to go after it. I went a little 2009 and opened my front leg to take it on. I took a bit of responsibility at the top of the order, and take it to the bowlers. It's tough to play orthodox cricket in these conditions, so I have to open up 360 degrees. Difficult decision to leave Jonny out and get Saha in, and especially batting a batsman like Kane at 4. Incredible knock from Saha though and his strike-rate in the powerplay was incredible. Unfortunately he's got a little groin niggle but hopefully it isn't too bad. Shankar has a hamstring issue as well. As for Rashid, it is incredible that he's he's taking so many wickets and not going for runs, especially given the dew and the moisture here. We've got games at Sharjah to go so hopefully we can put on a show there.
Natarajan took 2 wickets and Holder, Nadeem, Sandeep & Shankar took a wicket each.
All the SRH bowlers played their part in this game.
Rashid Khan: The ball came out nicely, but we won the game more importantly. The wicket was helping a lot. The more you bowl in the right areas. To bowl economically is what I am focusing on, whether I get wickets or not... I focus on bowling dot balls and it helps me get wickets and also helps to take wickets at the other end. I just go with a clear mind. I never think about the scoreboard, what the target is, what;s a good score if we bowl first. I always think I should bowl in the right areas. As long as you bowl there you can trouble anyone. You got to play with the batsman's mind. Keep mixing it up seeing what the batsman is trying to do. Delhi Capitals have now gone down to the third position, with an inferior NRR compared to RCB, who go second. SRH are at number 6, but their surge has been heartening - for them. Incredible. Nothing much of note for the Capitals, as even the desperate attempts from Pant and Rahane failed to get them close. Rashid Khan was clinical, as usual, recording his best figures in this IPL. Seventeen dot balls. Seventeen. If a team is fearful of going after you, particularly in a 220-run chase, you can give yourself a pat on the back. The remainder of the bowlers executed their plans well too, and were duly rewarded with spoils to wrap up a complete team performance. Presentations coming up in a bit.
Rashid Khan bowled his heart out in this game as he took his wickets of Rahane, Hetmyer, and Axar in his 4 overs by spending just 7 runs.
Bhuvi-less SRH bowling is proving their real worth from the last couple of games but today, it was pure magic. Sandeep Sharma started the wicket tally for Hyderabad as he got rid of the in-form Shikhar Dhawan in the first over itself. Nadeem bowled the next over and backed his partner with another wicket, this one was on Stoinis. Rahane and Hetymer tried the counter-attack strategy but failed as Rashid Khan brought in his magic and send them both back to the dugout in his very first over. The game was almost over as they were 4 down within 7 overs. Iyer and Pant tried resisting but after Iyer wicket, it was DC's tail. Pant tried a little in the end but the target was out of his reach.
Shreyas Iyer | Losing captain: Definitely a big loss for us but you can't really bog down from this point of time. We still have two games left but one win is really important, that's what we are waiting for since the last three games. Back-to-back losses is definitely going to put us under the pump. The boys are really strong, really motivated and this loss is definitely going to motivate us. We lost the game in the powerplay itself. Getting 70 runs in the first six overs was really commendable and the way they went after our bowlers was amazing. We need to have that strong and positive mindset. These losses are not going to put us down. As a team, we have been doing amazing throughout so these few matches shouldn't get into our heads. Next match, we'll see to it that we have done our studies right, we'll also see to it that we are putting in our best efforts on the field. It's really difficult to judge what to do on this wicket because it keeps changing any time, so the best thing is to lose the toss. I was contemplating whether to bat or to bowl, unfortunately I won the toss (laughs). We decided that the dew factor will play a massive role, but the ball was stopping a bit. It was really difficult to get off to a great start.
After the superb knocks by Wriddhi-Man and skip DW in the first innings, Delhi's hopes to win this clash were almost ended but the on-point bowling was the icing for Warner's birthday cake as his side, Sunrisers from Hyderabad have beaten the Mighty Capitals.
What a birthday gift for skipper David Warner. His hops for the playoff are still alive as his side has washed out the Mighty Delhi Capitals.
Sunrisers Hyderabad wins the match by 88 runs.
