KL Rahul | Winning skipper | MoM: It's not the first time, I'm getting used to it but we'll take the two points however they come. It doesn't always happen so you don't know how to stay balanced in a situation like this. We have put in some really amazing performances even in the games we lost. We're trying to come back harder in each game and wins like these help. After wicket-keeping for 20 overs, batting in the first six is very crucial. We knew it would get slower with their decent spinners, so Mayank and I got a good start over 50 runs. When Chris plays against spinners, I trust them to take down the spinners. Chris coming in helps, he is an experienced player and knows how to carry the team through. You can't prepare for Super Overs, no team prepares for Super Overs. You have to trust your bowling group and it is important you let them believe their instinct and gut. Shami was certain he wanted to go for six yorkers and he has been phenomenal for us. It is important senior guys put their hands up for us. We still want to take it one game at a time and when you haven't won a lot in the first seven, every victory is sweet. The talk in the dressing room is to focus on the process and stay calm. That is the kind of mood we want to set and everybody is professional and competitive and they want to win games. We know we need to win everything from here, but not at the cost of processes, we need to enjoy ourselves here.

Kieron Pollard | MI (stand-in) captain: It shows that 1 run and 2 runs are very very crucial in T20 cricket. I am sure it was great for viewership. Kings got the better of us and deserved the two points. Around the 11-12 over, we knew we were a couple of overs behind. Getting 170-odd, that was a good total - above-par on a track that was a on the slower side. With the dimensions, we thought we can defend that. KL again batted beautifully, going down to a Super Over, congratulations to them. 'What's the worse that can happen?' That's how I look at life and that's how I look at things. It's a game of cricket, you go out there to do your best, you prepare, there's a process and the situation dictates what happens. We were on the losing side tonight. We should won this I believe deep down. but these things happen. We have been playing good cricket, even today we played a very good cricket game. it's a matter of trying to to improve each and every time. There are a couple of areas we need to improve on. We have a four-day break, enough time to reflect. The guys are confident in the dressing room. I was told that he's (Rohit) not feeling well. We'll see what happens. He's a fighter.

Mayank Agarwal was delighted in the end and Gayle showed the world who is the real Universe Boss here. It all came down to 2 Super Overs in the end and KXIP found themselves on the right end of it and grab 2 points and jump above CSK and RR.
As the previous batsmen and bowlers can't bat and bowl in the next super over, it came down to Jordan to bowl for KXIP. Pollard and Hardik came to bat for MI. Jordan was excellent with his yorkers and Hardik was run out on the fourth ball. Pollard managed to stay there till the end but acrobatic effort from Mayank Agarwal on the boundary ropes denied him a six. MI managed to score 11. Boult was given the responsibility to defend 12 against the Universe Boss and Mayank Agarwal. Gayle hit the first ball in the stands followed by successive boundaries from Agarwal on the 3rd and 4th ball to chase down 12 in the second super over.
Bumrah bowler the super over for MI and was phenomenal with the ball. He just gave away 5 runs picking wickets of Pooran on the second ball and Rahul on the very last ball. Rohit Sharma and de Kock came to bat to chase down 6 but the fate had other ideas. Shami bowled the super over and defended 6 runs. It came down to the last ball and de Kock only managed to get a single as he too fell short by a short margin. The Super Over couldn't separate the sides And The Game went in the next Super Over.
The Kings XI Punjab started their chase decently until Bumrah cleaned up Mayank. Gayle and Pooran hit some lusty blows in the middle but two quick wickets brought MI back in the game. Maxwell was dismissed for a duck and Rahul was left stranded at one end. He took the charge and took the game deep unless he was dismissed in the 18th over by Bumrah. Some ordinary bowling from Coulter-Nile in the penultimate over increased KXIP's chances and it all came down to the last over. It all came down to last ball. 2 were needed of the last ball and Jordan managed to slog this to Pollard and he fell short by the BAREST OF MARGINS. The game went in the super over.
First to start the day, Rohit won the toss and opted to bat first. They were blown away in the powerplay as they lost 3 wickets inside the powerplay. de Kock looked good and brought up his 4th fifty in 5 matches. He departed looking to accelerate and Hardik was dismissed as well. Pollard was joined by Coulter-Nile and they belted the KXIP bowlers in the death. They put on 57 between them of just 21 balls. They finished on 176/6 at the end of their innings.
Words can't describe the match that we have just witnessed. KXIP beat MI in the super over, not the first super over but the second super over. This might just be enough to describe this mad day of cricket.
