Thanks for staying till the nail-biting finish of the match, it was a delight to bring you all the updates from the match. A goodbye from me, Mohak Arora and my colleague Arjun Bhalla as we bid you adieu.
KL Rahul | Winning captain and Man of the Match: I have no idea, it's (heart beat) the highest it can be. I don't even have words. We knew we had to scrape and get over the line. We are a far better side than where we are in the points table. It just got too close for comfort, happy that we crossed the line. As a group, we have been disappointing. It can get frustrating. Our skills were good, but we didn't capitalize on the big moments. It becomes a habit - winning and not winning. There are ups and downs and this has been the roller-coaster. We wanted this win to get some confidence in the group. It's my first time as captain, for me it's always about winning. The personal performances haven't been on the mind too much.
Chris Gayle: Not really (nervous). Come on man, it is the Universe Boss batting, how can I be nervous. I might give you a heart attack, I thought I had it in the bag but stranger things have happened in cricket. It was a good innings, first in IPL and now I can make myself available for 2021. I can get out of the bubble now and go. It was very sticky and I thought it was better in the second innings, it was difficult for the team batting first and we got the better part of the pitch. The team asked me to do a job and I deliver, openers have been batting well and we didn't want to trouble that. Mayank and the captain have given us some good starts right through, the win was more important for the team. I thought it was important to keep fit, I don't like being on the bench but I was enjoying it and apart from the sickness I have been getting fitter.
Three former RCB openers were the downfall of RCB as KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, and Chris Gayle played big knocks to see their side home.
Virat Kohli | losing captain: It was quite surprising, because it went down to the wire. A bit of pressure can confuse you, it was a good performance by Kings XI in the end. We had a chat, it (AB batting at no, 6) was a message about the left-hand, right-hand combination. Sometimes these decisions you take, don't come off. But I think 170 was a decent score. That's the idea, get your eye in and start hitting. But we were not able to put them under pressure. We take a lot of pride as a bowling side, but tonight was one of those nights, as it didn't come off. A few positives from the game. There was no conversation between Yuzi (Chahal) and me to be honest. Things became interesting to be honest. They kind of let us come back in the game, because I think it should have ended by the 18th over.
Let's hear what the skippers have to say about this nail-biting match.
RCB are still 3rd in the points table as they have 10 points from 8 matches and KXIP remain bottom after 2 wins against RCB and losing once to every other team, they have 4 points from 8 matches.
Kings XI Punjab got off to an express start in the run-chase as Mayank Agarwal scored 45 runs off 25 balls hitting four fours and three maximums. Agarwal allowed Rahul to settle in and play the anchor role as Chris Gayle came in an unusual No.3 position and they built a 93-run partnership that lasted till the penultimate over of the match. After a stage where KXIP needed just 26 runs off 24 balls, RCB forced the match to the last ball courtesy of some great bowling from Isuru Udana and Yuzvendra Chahal.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and chose to bat first. Courtesy of a brilliant start from Aaron Finch and Devdutt Padikkal and good knocks from Virat Kohli and Shivam Dube allowed RCB to keep the runs flowing throughout the match. A cameo from Chris Morris in the end helped Bangalore post 170+ on the board. A blunder of a decision from the RCB management to hold back AB de VIlliers who was very dangerous on this ground in the last match possibly costed them 2 points tonight.
Kings XI Punjab got stuck into another juicy climax and they have come out of it with flying colors! Nicholas Pooran smashed a six off the last ball to win the match for his side, the second win for KXIP this season and the second against Royal Challengers Bangalore as the KL Rahul led squad become the first team to complete a double of victories over any team this season.

6 MAXIMMUMMM FROM POOORANNNNNN!!!! Kings XI got into another weird climax finish but Nicholas Pooran has dug them out of the hole they dug for themselves. Chahal pitches it up and Pooran advances, converts it into a full-toss and slogs it from the bottom of his bat and just clears the long-on fielder just inside the fence.
POORAN IN TO PLAY THE LAST BALL OF THE INNINGS. He needs to score at least 1 run here to get 2 points for his team.
19.5 Yuzvendra Chahal to Lokesh Rahul
W GONEEE!!!! OH MY MY MY!!!! What are we seeing here, Rahul plays it to cover and wants the single, the throw is too good and Gayle is tired and the 41-year old batsman is too slow to get to the other end. It's referred upstairs and he is GONE!!! Kings XI committing suicide once again!!!
19.4 Yuzvendra Chahal to Lokesh Rahul
0 Rahul cuts it straight to the point fielder, no run for Rahul, amazing scenes here!!!!
19.3 Yuzvendra Chahal to Chris Gayle
1 SCORES LEVEL!!! Too wide outside off and Gayle swings it away, gets a single there.
19.2 Yuzvendra Chahal to Chris Gayle
0 Looked like a wide outside off but it spun inches and Gayle lets it go, another dot ball.
19.1 Yuzvendra Chahal to Chris Gayle
0 Turns it in towards Gayle and he plays it to mid-wicket on a bounce, no run.
2 runs needed off 6 balls? We have seen strange endings related to KXIP this season, obviously it's too difficult for RCB to pull it back now.
