Prithvi Shaw | Player of the Match: In the start you have to see how the wicket is, playing along the ground is more important. I was striking the ball well last year as well, but I was making silly mistakes. This time I decided to play more ground shots. I would like to see the highlights of my knock and understand how it went and what I could do. The wicket was nice to bat on.
Shreyas Iyer | winning captain: I am really happy with the performance. I would give them the benefit of doubt, is tough to catch in these conditions. You misjudged the ball, really don't know how to pace yourself. In the team meeting we decided that we are going to assess the batting conditions early and then play accordingly. The way the openers started gave us a lot of confidence and the finish was good too. I am lucky to have KG and Nortje in the team. It's important to stick together as a team and we need to enjoy each other's success.
Kagiso Rabada | purple cap holder: I just try and hit the ball in good areas and try to execute my plans. Luckily, I got wickets but most importantly we won tonight. I try to adjust to what is happening and get the team in a winning position. The wickets are byproducts. They (spinners) bowled remarkably well throughout, it wasn't too dewy and was gripping. Axar boweld really well and has been economical. Mishra is really a skillful bowler and they controlled the middle overs and that gave us the opportunity to strangle at the death. I'm really happy for him (Anrich Nortje), he's worked really hard and bowled some quick deliveries tonight. I'm kind of getting used to it (1 over spells), I have no option but to bowl whenever he (Iyer) waves at me (chuckles).
MS Dhoni | Losing captain: I don't think it was a good game for us. We are lacking a bit of steam in the batting and that hurts. The run rate keeps on mounting after such slow starts and adds pressure, we need to figure that out. We need to come back with a clearer picture, looking at the combination. There are quite a few things we can think about. We are one batter extra to start off, so the players need to step up. We need to get better with our lengths, lines and pace. I think the spinners have not come to the party yet. We are bowling good deliveries, but we are giving away the boundary deliveries bit too often. I'll ask the players as there have been quite a few dropped catches. The players are not used to play under such lights, maybe the trajectory comes in the way. Now that you have said it, this can be an excuse for those dropped catches.

Earlier in the day, Dhoni elected to chase again and the decision didn’t paid off. Shaw and Dhawan got off to a flyer. Shaw was fantastic with the bat and brought up his 5th IPL fifty. Dhawan too looked good for his 35. Both laid the foundation that was needed for a big total. Pant provided the quick fire 37 and Iyer supported him very well. The CSK bowlers looked rusty throughout and Delhi got past 170.
The Delhi Capitals bowlers were clinical with the ball. Axar Patel was good with the new ball and Amit Mishra in the middle overs was excellent with his leg breaks. Anrich Nortje chipped in with 2 wickets giving away only 21 runs. Rabada took 3 wickets in his four. The change of pace from their bowlers was terrific which was the key on this wicket with bigger boundaries.
176 on this ground was always a tough task and CSK never got going in the chase. They lost both the openers inside the powerplay with Axar Patel dismissing Watson 6th time in IPL. Du Plessis tried hard to steady the ship in the middle but were falling short of the required rate. Kedar Jadhav and du Plessis stitched together 54 for the 4th wicket but couldn’t accelerate. Dhoni came in the 16th over when the required rate was 19. He was left with too much to do in the end and finally they fell short by 44 runs. Some serious thinking to do for the Men in Yellow.
Delhi Capitals beat Chennai Super Kings by 44 runs and have won back to back games. CSK have now lost 2 consecutive games. This is the sixth straight victory for the team that batted first this season.
