So that is all from us here folks, Till the next time, me, Arya Sekhar Chakraborty signing off on the behalf of my colleague Akshay Bhide. Stay tuned to all the live commentary for the decider on Wednesday. Good night from us
Aaron Finch, losing captain: We always knew it was going to be a tough wicket for the new batsmen to start on. England squeezed really well but yeah, bitterly disappointed. We weren't 100 percent committed to our plans and need to get better at that. They (Rashid and Tom Curran) played really nicely but I thought we bowled a bit wider to them as well. We knew that it would be challenging to play on used pitches. Not the most ideal surface for the one-day game but no excuses. There was a good balance between bat and ball, which is not usual these days.
Jofra Archer, Player of the Match: We were versatile with the ball. Went seam-up for the first few overs and then decided to use the surface a bit more. He (Morgan) gives us the freedom to bowl whatever we want and gives us the fields we want. It's a slowish deck, so we just need to bang it halfway down without being too funky.
Eoin Morgan, winning captain: This win is certainly a confidence booster for us. The way we bowled and also the way the bowlers batted for us at the back end. It's the best we've bowled for a while. Used the conditions really well. Full credit to the guys. Rashid didn't have his best day but came down well at the end to take the final wicket. (on bowling out Archer and Woakes) The only way we were going to win the game was by taking wickets and we had to go all out. The bowlers made me look good with their performances.
The turning point of the match proved to be the 76 runs partnership between Adil Rashid and Tom Curran. Rashid provided a breezy knock of 35 of just 26 deliveries which included 3 fours and a six and it turned out to be the game-changing knock. Curran also played a brilliant knock scoring 37 of 39 deliveries studded with 5 fours.
Earlier in the day, Morgan won the toss and surprisingly opted to bat which turned out to be a blessing in disguise in the end. England didn't get off to the greatest of starts losing Jonny Bairstow pretty early on in the innings. Roy started off well with a few crisp boundaries but couldn't turn it into a big one. Morgan and Joe Root steadied the ship in the middle and shared a good partnership. However there was a break in play for the hosts as they were reduced to 152/8
Australia didn't get off to the best possible start and lost the wicket of David Warner pretty early. Jofra Archer's early burst also brought about the downfall of Marcus Stoinis. From there on it was Finch and Labuschagne who steadied the ship and took Australia to a position of relative comfort. However, Archer and Woakes made a remarkable comeback from the 31st over and there was no looking back for the hosts. Archer who produced a hostile spell gets the Man of the Match award
What a fairytale comeback it turned out to be for the hosts England as they registered an exceptional come from behind victory, levelling the 3 match series 1-1 in the process. Halfway into Australia's run chase, the visitors were well and truly in the driver's seat but some poor batting and an exceptional burst of bowling from the likes of Jofra Archer and Chris Woakes turned the match on it's head. Carey waged a lone hand in the end but it was a mountain to steep to climb.
48.4 Adil Rashid to Alex Carey
W OUT!!! Outstanding comeback from England. Another googly, Carey comes dancing down the track and goes for a mighty heave, totally bamboozled and Buttler behind the stumps whips of the bails, An astonish collapse from the visitors. Yet again they snatch defeat from the hands of victory. The game was in their hands and they let it slip
