Player Bio

Lara Maritz is a fiery fast bowler who loves the battle between the bat and ball. She represents the Ireland national team internationally. She was first capped against England in Abu Dhabi in 2017 and has not lost any beat since then.

Maritz shifted to Ireland at the age of four years. Her cricketing interest was first sighted by her father who used to drive her to the Dublin cricket club. The pacer went on to feature for Ireland A and the Women’s Performance Academy, before making her name at the highest level.

The seamer was first called up in 2017 to tour the UAE but she made her international debut against India in an ODI clash. Her T20I debut arrived a couple of months later against New Zealand. The South African-born cricketer was also part of the Irish squad during the 2018 World T20, which was held in the West Indies. She also played the World T20 Qualifiers in 2018 and 2019.

However, the pacer’s most celebrated moments came during the 2018-19 season, when she took 4 for 58 (ODI) against the White Ferns and figures of 3 for 4 (T20I) against Scotland. She was also named in the Women's Global Development Squad, ahead of a five-match series in Australia in 2019. The following year, Maritz earned a non-retainer contract with Cricket Ireland.

At just 20 years old, Maritz holds an important place in the Ireland women’s team, and with her talent, the seamer has all the ingredients to become a world-ruler, if given regular opportunities.
