Player Bio

A New Zealander by origin, Max O’Dowd got Holland citizenship by the virtue of his mother being Dutch. A right-handed batsman and a right-arm offie, Max is an aggressive player who is best suited for the shortest form of the game.

He represented the Netherlands at the U19 level in the 2012 European Challenge Series. The all-rounder registered 5 for 20 against Jersey and also slammed two half-centuries in the tournament.

Three years later, Max earned his maiden Dutch callup in a T20I match against Nepal. He was impressive on his debut, picking up a solitary wicket and kept the scoreboard tight from one end.

Max had to wait for a few more years to make his ODI debut, as the Auckland-born finally earned a place in the Netherlands ODI squad to face Zimbabwe in 2019.

He was named in the Dutch squad for the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament in the UAE and later played a mammoth role in the 2020–21 Nepal Tri-Nation Series.

An all-round player who is willing to learn, Max had a superb start to his ODI career, slamming two fifties in his first two innings, but he still has a long way to go before cementing a permanent place in the Dutch national side.
