Bio
Mahedi Hasan has played 159 domestic matches before earning his maiden-ODI call-up in 2021. Born in Khulna, Bangladesh, Hasan is an all-rounder who has performed well in the domestic circuit over the years.
An attacking right-hand batsman, and a right-arm off spinner, Hasan made his domestic debut in 2015, and had a stellar first season.
He is a good white ball player, and in a Dhaka Premier League match in 2016, he scored his first List-A ton (103). Impressive performances in the List-A caught the eyes of Bangladesh selectors and Hasan was selected in the T20I squad for the series against Sri Lanka. The off spinner was expensive in the match, going for 25 runs in 2 overs, and scoring just 11 runs.
Hasan had an outstanding Bangladesh Premier League career so far, taking 10 and 13 wickets in the 2017/18 and 2018/19 tournaments respectively. Such performances earned him his maiden ODI call-up to play against the Windies, but he was not selected to play in any of the matches.
Hasan has been recently added in the ODI squad to play New Zealand, where he’ll be looking to impress everyone with his all-round abilities.
Hasan is a good player of spin bowling and has mastered the art of hitting sixes against the spinners. However, the inability to play the fast bowlers well have raised eyebrows in the Bangladeshi camp. The young player has the ability to bowl with the new ball, and is not shy to ball at the death. With proper guidance, Hasan can be a star player for Bangladesh in the future.
