Once touted as the future of the Irish batting line-up, Kane has become more of a bowling all-rounder over the last decade.

A right-arm medium-fast bowler, Kane was part of the Ireland squad for the 2012 Under-19 World Cup. He was the MVP for his side, finishing the tournament with 197 runs in six games and also scalping 5 wickets in the process.

Kane received a surprise call-up to the Irish squad for the T20 World Cup qualifiers in 2015. He made his T20I debut against Scotland and picked up 3 crucial wickets at the top of the order. However, his efforts went in vain as Scotland pipped Ireland to win the contest by 6 wickets.

He only played in two qualifying matches and was dropped from the squad following the shock defeat to Papua New Guinea, despite taking career-best figures of 3 for 19.

He made his List-A debut for Leinster Lightning in the 2017 Inter-Provincial Cup.

The pacer was included in the Ireland squad for their first-ever Test match in history. He made his Test debut against Pakistan and had an ordinary match, going wicketless as Pakistan thrashed Ireland by 5 wickets.

Kane came up through the Irish Under-19 ranks and has so far struggled at the international level. He was brought in the side to give breakthroughs at crucial junctures and also for pinch-hitting lower down the order, which he has done in bits and pieces.
