Player Bio

A tall, aggressive seam bowler, Avesh Khan is an upcoming prospect who is known for his seam movement and bounce generated. Hailing from Indore, Avesh started playing tennis ball cricket when he was 10 years old and started his cricketing journey at the Colts Cricket Club in Indore.

One of the talismans during the U-19 World Cup in 2014 and 2016, the 24-year old pacer picked the most number of wickets for India (12) at an impressive average of 15.08. His notable returns in first-class cricket have made him a regular feature in the India ‘A’ sides. At the age of 21, he got the first opportunity to represent India as a net bowler for their Test Series against the Proteas.

After debuting for the Royal Challengers Banglore (RCB) in the 2017 Indian Premier League (IPL), Avesh moved to the Delhi Capitals (DC) in 2018 in search of more game time but could not be a regular feature in the team’s playing XI. The muscular bowler from Indore had a breakout season with the Capitals in the 2021 IPL, scalping 24 wickets, ending the campaign as the second-highest wicket-taker in the cash-rich league.

Avesh’s wicket-taking ability against some of the best batters in the world earned him a callup from the Indian national team for their T20I series against New Zealand. With most of the senior Indian cricketers rested, he would be looking to make an impact in the shortest format to earn a permanent spot in the Indian cricket team.
